New music from me on @obsolete_medium!

Definitely one of my favourites from the LP - it came together quite quickly and provides a little light against some of the moodiness of the other tracks. I made the majority of the musical and atmospheric elements from the vocal, using a combination of granular synthesis and heavy reverb. I love hearing vocals placed in big spaces, as it reminds me of the classical choral music my parents played in the house as a child.

The artists on this compilation span the globe, including contributors from Ukraine itself. The project aims to unite musicians in a joint effort to support the cause of peace.

When it comes to funkily uplifting drum 'n' bass, no-one does it like @souldnb

From the addition of live instruments to their deejay sets, to their twisting of the liquid funk formula across their discography, these guys have always brought something fresh and unexpected to the table. With releases on labels like Liquid V, Fokuz and now Four Corners, it's clear their combination of technical musicality and uncompromising party vibes are a winner.

And this is a particularly special release. As the EP title 'Friends' suggests, this one's all about collaborations, and Simple Souls clearly have some very talented mates to call on. 

Link and Jimmy Danger jump in for 'Blue Note Swing', where Jimmy's laid-back bars ride over a slick piano-led groove, interspersed with ice-cool instrumental solos. Then there's more jazz beauty to be found in the Kodan collab 'Wave' where horns lead the way and keys set the tone.

But there's even more to discover. Professor Funk laces 'Survivors' blending influences of hip-hop with atmospheric DnB, while 'Ride On' featuring MC Fedora takes us into full singalong anthem mode.

In short, this EP sounds like musicians of all kinds – producers, instrumentalists and vocalists – finding joy in the possibilities of DnB, and paying that forward to the listener and raver. These are feel good tunes by and for people who care about music, and that makes it an essential acquisition.

Soul Deep Exclusives and Treex are excited to announce the release of the Dr. Dream EP, which is now available Exclusively on the Soul Deep Bandcamp Page!!  Treex has been a mainstay on the Soul Deep imprint over the years, as he continues to push his signature sound and gain more exposure with each release.  The French native represents his country in impressive fashion with his big breaks, bouncy basslines, and catchy musical elements, that create a musical listening experience that only Treex can provide.  The EP kicks off with the energetic and ethereal vibes of the title track, “Dr. Dream.”  The track rides along a filtering pad, which is backed by lush piano keys, soulful vocals, snappy drums, and a throbbing sub bassline.  Vibes!  “Far Away Place,” is up next and features a vintage-sounding soul sample, backed by a groovy bassline and shuffling drums.  “Small Town Boy,” represents a signature Treex track, loaded up with steady shuffling drums, epic musical stabs, and a bouncy bassline.  “Start All Over Again,” rounds things out in style with its lush soul samples, large pad hits, and a deep bassline that tickles the soul. Off-License Records had originally signed the 'Eternal Sin' EP several months ago, alongside a single track for the 'Reduced To Clear' series. However, just before the intended release of the latter, news of Josh's tragic passing in a car accident surfaced. In reaching out to his family, there arose the question of whether to proceed with these planned releases. The family expressed their desire for Josh's music to persist in finding an audience. Reports indicated Josh had a substantial collection of tracks, including a full EP, awaiting release at a later time.

For those who come across this message, it's important to note that the entirety of the proceeds generated from this EP will be directed back to Chill Collective's family and close circle. The decision was made not to retain the typical share for the record label, as supporting Josh's family took precedence over any label gains. Gratitude was extended to the mastering house, ION Digital, for their contribution in mastering these tracks without charge. Additionally, heartfelt appreciation was conveyed to all who had already shown support for Josh's previous release, Salvation (OLRTC011).

In moments like these, the Drum & Bass community's essence of love, respect, and communal support shines through. These values are foundational to the genre and continue to resonate. Rest in peace, Josh. May the enduring legacy of your music remain a testament to your spirit. <3
