Bears have captivated the human imagination for millennia, appearing as both the porridge-obsessed nemesis of Goldilocks, beloved cuddly Teddy companions, formidable man-eating creatures, and even the inspiration behind the names of celestial constellations. However, the growing impact of human activities such as logging, mining, road construction, and the pressing issue of global warming is dramatically altering the landscapes that bears have called home for generations. This transformation not only limits their access to safety and sustenance but also frequently leads to conflicts with local residents, farmers, and livestock.

Even more disheartening are the gruesome threats posed by illegal hunting, trapping, and the illicit trade in bear body parts. Regardless of whether we hold them in awe or trepidation, one sentiment unites us all: the desire to prevent the extinction of these iconic, furry legends. You smell that? That’s the smell of burnt rubber, cold rain, and broken promises. Welcome to the Mean Streets kid. 

You ever hear jungle breaks echoing through an empty parking garage at 3 a.m.? That’s what this is for. Mean Streets is built for late-night runs and lost causes. It's a drum and bass tribute to the golden age of the PlayStation, back when everything felt faster, dirtier, realer. Back when we were still counting polygons kid. 

Think Wipeout 2097, Ridge Racer, Need for Speed. This is the sound of busted-up jungle drum and bass straight from a memory card left in the rain.

Yeah, there's liquid DnB in here, even some future garage, the kind that creeps in when the streets are empty and the rain won’t stop and you can't get those damned memories outta your head. But don’t get it twisted kid, the heart of this record is that early-2000s jungle mayhem. The stuff that came out of blown speakers and off bootleg discs. That sound that made you drive too fast and care too little.

So here’s your induction, rookie. The Mean Streets don’t care who you are. But if you’re gonna race out here, you better have the right soundtrack. And now, you do.

This one's for fan's of low-poly dreams, 160 BPM mistakes, and the kind of nights you don't come back grom the same. If you like early jungle, Source Direct, LTJ Bukem and PS1-era Drum & Bass you're gonna like this.

Lowriderz are back at it with another smasher of an EP and if you thought their previous ‘Jungle Wars’ EP from 2018 was good, then open your ears and get ready to one foot skank all over again. Released everywhere on 12th June, this collection of beats is nothing short of a welcome return to the world of Serial Killaz.

‘Back’ is one dangerous lead to this EP that would no doubt take anything in its path and give it a good bashing. You know the vocal sample already and wrapping this around a single sine wave is the perfect complement alongside the regular breakbeat switches. 

Distant Future and Steppa Style link up for the ride on ‘Dub Stye’ and ‘No Shop Talk’ respectively. Both feature heavy ‘96 influences with pitch bent basslines, tons of vocal shots and bubbling beats that will have you sticking flyers from the past all over your bedroom, flicking up a lighter and trying to invent a time machine.

‘Dubplate’ and ‘Stop’ could have been a double A side release and their stark variations compliment each other perfectly. On one hand you have a tough roller with a singalong style riff. The flip, more of a flexed out riddim, however, both contain that all important Serial Killaz element. Original roots and foundation.

The flavour for 2020 is without a doubt full circle from the mid 90’s and if Lowriderz have anything to do with it, long may it continue.
