Ukraine is a country we don’t often associate with drum and bass, but we can assure you there are some serious talents coming out of the country right now – and VovKING is certainly one of them. You may remember the artist formerly being part of duo with Tapolsky – a combination finding a regular home with labels including Viper, Technique and Mainframe, but VovKING has since been journeying onwards as a solo act with a mission to explore the futuristic sounds of D&B.

It’s an ambition that came to the fore on VovKING’s banging “Monolith/Collagen” single on Rampage Recordings earlier this year, and one that continues on Elevate as we welcome VovKING to the label for his debut “Katana” single. Packing the progressive unpredictability VovKING’s tracks are quickly gaining recognition for, “Katana” is a tune that is guaranteed to cut through dancefloors with its sharp groove.

While the start of a new year often comes with a feeling of sluggishness, Elevate will be hitting the ground running with the launch of a brand new release series, Elevations. It’s a project focused on finding and supporting the best emerging talents from around the world, and it will take the form of an annual V/A compilation album. As a label, we’ve always been committed to bringing you the fattest dancefloor sounds from the best artists, but going forward, we also want to ensure we’re doing our bit to bring through the next gen of artists. Expect fresh sounds from a global crop of wicked names.

We're kicking off Elevations with a trip to Czech Republic, where a serious Ripple of energy has been forming of late. If you haven’t heard about Ripple yet then their latest single “Feels Like" will give you an insight into the neuro-fused dancefloor sounds this Czech duo are capable of. Despite only being around for a few years, Ripple have already self-released their debut Effect LP, and we guarantee there’s plenty more to come from this D&B powerhouse in the near future.

Toolroom drop their final release of 2022 - and what a way to end an incredible year for the label. Italy’s finest export, Beatport #1 selling artist and all-round amazing producer, CASSIMM, gets his hands on the holy grail of 90’s dance music - Atlantic Ocean ‘Waterfall’.

A record originally released back in 1993 that hit the top 20 in the UK charts, #3 in The Netherlands, #9 in Ireland and several others globally, cementing its status as a stone cold dance classic!

Fast forward 30 years, and this cult-classic has been re-beefed, re-worked and re-designed for todays dance-floors. Off-License Records had originally signed the 'Eternal Sin' EP several months ago, alongside a single track for the 'Reduced To Clear' series. However, just before the intended release of the latter, news of Josh's tragic passing in a car accident surfaced. In reaching out to his family, there arose the question of whether to proceed with these planned releases. The family expressed their desire for Josh's music to persist in finding an audience. Reports indicated Josh had a substantial collection of tracks, including a full EP, awaiting release at a later time.

For those who come across this message, it's important to note that the entirety of the proceeds generated from this EP will be directed back to Chill Collective's family and close circle. The decision was made not to retain the typical share for the record label, as supporting Josh's family took precedence over any label gains. Gratitude was extended to the mastering house, ION Digital, for their contribution in mastering these tracks without charge. Additionally, heartfelt appreciation was conveyed to all who had already shown support for Josh's previous release, Salvation (OLRTC011).

In moments like these, the Drum & Bass community's essence of love, respect, and communal support shines through. These values are foundational to the genre and continue to resonate. Rest in peace, Josh. May the enduring legacy of your music remain a testament to your spirit. <3
