One summer Sunday an all-white Cadillac sped down the highway, glistening under the rain of sunbeams that fell upon its exquisitely polished surface. Within its luxurious velour interior sat a single woman dressed in her Sunday best, a gown of lilac white bedecked with rosaries and other jewelry of exquisite beauty. Though aged, the woman sat with a characteristic grace that evidenced her proper upbringing, and her hands rested calmly at ten and two upon the vehicle’s steering wheel. Fresh from worship, her thoughts drifted to her grandchildren and the cookies she would prepare for them when she arrived home until they were interrupted in a manner she deemed most uncouth as another vehicle sped past her, honking its horn in a taunt before squeezing into place just ahead of her own.

With the selfsame grace of her being, the woman sighed to herself and reached into her vehicles glove compartment, procuring from within a forty-four caliber handgun. Upon looking up, she noticed that the vehicle before her had slowed to an unreasonable velocity, forcing her to travel at a speed that would prevent her from having her baking done on time for her grandchildren. At this thought the woman’s demeanor began to shift considerably, and her face contorted into a rage filled grin. Pressing the gas pedal of her vehicle to the floor, she shot out from her lane and saddled up alongside the offending vehicle. Rolling down her hand-crank windows with a supernatural vigour, she lowered her sunglasses to reveal a pair of piercing obsidian eyes to the driver beside her. “Alright alright,” she seethed at him “I think you’ve had your fun”. At her sight he shrieked and in fear exclaimed “That grandma’s got a gun!’ .

Longtime EATBRAIN collaborators L 33 & MC COPPA return to the label to debut the newest release from their joint project LIGHTS OUT with the ROADS OF RAGE EP. Formed of the pair’s shared enjoyment of high octane Drum & Bass pared with an energetic vocal layer, LIGHTS OUT have recently burst onto the scene in full force with multiple performances, mixes, and a debut release on their namesake label Lights Out Audio. Now returning to the genesis point of their collaborative endeavour, LIGHTS OUT deliver a furious three-track EP to the Eatbrain horde with the aptly named ROADS OF RAGE.

This is a monstrous world. Since time immemorial, great beasts have awakened and lain waste to the achievements of humanity. Their monstrous forms plagued our ancestors, waylayed those who so explored our world, and even now they tear through our cities of steel in order to feed their endless hunger for destruction. Over time however, we have learned to fight back. We have crafted labyrinthine underground networks dedicated to defeating them. We have pioneered numerous advances in the realms of science to allow us to go beyond ourselves, to face these monsters head on as we battle for our very survival. Even as cataclysm rocked our world and the sky fell in pieces around us, we have endured, for that is our way. Yet for all of these trials we have overcome, for all of the great beasts we have slain, we have yet to face our greatest trial. For now, at the turning of the clock, this world’s most terrible fury shall come for us with all of its might.

Long buried within the world’s deepest depths, entombed under layer upon layer of time and age and passed over by century upon century, a behemoth unlike any other has slumbered for unknown millenia. This being was a Progenitor, the first of its kind to walk the lands of this world, and thus it is inexorably bound to it. Those who have stood against it before have never managed only to seal it once more within the depths from whence it came, and therein it has been gathering strength since. Prophecy foretells that the Progenitor shall return to the land in the footsteps of the ninety-nine monstrosities below it, and our warriors affirm that the ninety-ninth such great beast has been slain. Thus, we now face our ultimate reckoning, one that could unmake the very world itself. Best ready yourself, dear warrior, for at this moment the Progenitor comes for us all, and it is most assuredly ANGRY.

EATBRAIN celebrate their landmark 100th release with ANGRY//NEVER BE, the latest single from label boss JADE. What had once been but a small village had changed, coating itself in the metallic materials of a new age born of the prosperity that was wrought by its forebears, those who had bound demons in stone so many years ago. The elements of fire and brimstone with which such creatures once threatened the village now lay bound themselves, claimed and wielded as tools that had wrought the stairsteps of progress from the ruins of the city’s troubled past. As progress had waxed however, time waned, and few left still remembered the obelisk which lay hidden at the heart of their city, encased within a monument to victory over the realms’ more worldly foes. Within however, those foes of old had slumbered, keeping sharp the memories of their magical imprisonment. Outside, time had passed, and now arrived back to where it had once been. Thus with the waking of the demons is stone, the time of DIVERGENCE did once again begin.

It began subtly, as the influence of the demons seeped out from the ancient obelisk, transforming the visages of the metallic heroes who were their former jailors into subtly more monstrous forms. From the obelisks dark and rotted core seeped a sinister demonic poison, and ichor that worked its way into dark places both familiar and new. With it came the demons, who slithered out of their forgotten prison and found refuge amidst the smoke and flame now welcomed by those who had forbade them long before. As their power and number grew, their essence enveloped the city, immersing it in a sea of acrid darkness that choked living beings and the light of the sun with equal tenacity. Caught within this abyssal miasma, the minds of the city’s inhabitants corroded as their bodies mutated into horrendous forms, a slow, grueling process that spared those affected not a single horror. As day and night ceased to pass within the haze that strangled the city, the demons emerged from their dark places, assuming their de facto rulership over the city which was now carved in their image. Thus it was again that the world of the living was changed, therein by the darkness from which DIVERGENCE came.
EATBRAIN continues their DIVERGENCE compilation series with DIVERGENCE III, bringing together a monstrous roster including a surprise last ever appearance by the legendary FOREIGN BEGGARS produced by KILLBREAK, and label veterans TELEKINESIS, AGRESSOR BUNX, MIZO, THE CLAMPS, DISPHONIA, IHR, L 33, NAIS, COD3X, LIVEON, KUTLO and novel additions DISASZT, SHADOW SECT, SCREAMARTS, CHASER. Concocting a vile sonic solution from the component tracks within, EATBRAIN sends their loyal horde onwards under the banner of DIVERGENCE, once again uniting artists new and old in their devastating audio assault.
