With perfect 20/20 vision, nobody could have predicted a year like 2020. But what has been a difficult year for us all, has been a great year for music.

Ant TC1 has hand-picked his favourite tracks from a feature-packed year of high-quality drum and bass. Choosing just 20 tracks from 40 releases and 2 LPs has been a difficult task, but we’re proud to be able to present the sound of Dispatch in 2020 from this incredible list of artists.

Featuring two previously un-released VIPs this compilation is testament to the variety and quality of music that we were honoured to release this year. With much, much more in the pipeline, we’d like to thank all of the listeners and the talented musicians that make up the Dispatch family.

Ant TC1's celebrated Dispatch Recordings imprint welcome back Tephra for his new 'Shift' EP, a stunning project which elevates the Drum & Bass sound to new levels, backed up by a surefire selection of carefully-selected special guests on board. Tephra, known for his exquisite work with production partner Arkoze, really steps things up here, making his distinguished mark across 5 fantastic tracks, linking up with Nick Modern, Collette Warren, Melysma, Arkoze, Hiillzy & Edison along the way. We're delighted to host the lead track from the collection, a yearning, rolling murker that excels within its refined progression and deep, mutating atmospherics - what a way to kick off 2021 for both Tephra and Dispatch. We welcome Black Barrel back with his first Dispatch release of 2021. This EP takes its name from a visit to the UK last year, which resulted in a cancelled visa and Black Barrel unable to play a series of gigs in the country.

Made up of four solid, dancefloor inspired tunes – some made for this failed trip and others completed on his return to Russia, inspired by the Bristol sound and his shorter than planned visit!

Black Barrel at his best and a must-listen for fans of his inimitable style.

‘The Full Moon EP’ sees Philth & Wreckless join forces for a project created during two sessions at Philth’s studio. With their solo work making up some of our favourite tracks on the label, this combination of artists makes the EP quite special. 

Sharing a love of classic breakbeats and 1999 tech rollers, they made a conscious decision not to over-polish the mixes - keeping the raw edge to the drums and dirty bass textures. Aiming to bring back the rough feel of their favourite older tunes, with arrangements that roll out for the DJ's. 

During these sessions Wreckless noticed that it was a ‘Full Moon’, just as the title track was taking shape - a drum led track that grows and develops throughout, balancing layers of subtle additions to the driving weight of the tune.   

These concepts are reflected in the artwork, with the 'tech moon' representing the meeting of rugged natural sounds and modern technology.
