JTL, the next name to know in hip hop, rap and the world of entertainment period. Born and raised on the south side of St. Peters-burg, Florida where talent lives but is not much known. The outside world provided JTL with his musical influences. The artist that played a big part in giving JTL the rap culture lessons, word play and knowledge of self, he needed consist of (to name a few) Krs-One ,Public Enemy and Nas. He also leaned on The Notorious BIG for storytelling skills and Tupac (which is JTL’s biggest musical influence) for passion, poetry and social awareness. Since the late 1980's, JTL was following the hip hop culture and learning that being from the south it was still possible to be a hip hop great with the likes of artist like Outkast and the Ghetto Boyz, emerging from Atlanta and Texas to provide the hope and guidelines to come out of the South.

 

JTL started free styling and writing his own songs at the age of 12 years old. As he grew older he started to pay attention to the rhymes and stories being taught about dealing with the ills of the world and the pain of being a black man in America from his influences such as Tupac, Public Enemy and Krs-One; which in turn helped JTL focus more on rhyming from the heart and speaking on the pain he felt every day. JTL came to realize  while he could not  only focus on negative things all the time , parties and  the club are only on the weekend and real life is every day. Speaking on God and helping the people in his community also had to be incorporated in his music with JTL having pastors and missionaries in his family and surroundings. But do not mistake JTL for only being a socially conscience artist that doesn't speak about enjoying life, getting money and making sure his friends come along for the ride as. JTL pushes to be an all-purpose artist that spits about any and everything that is on his mind and the mind of the listeners.

 

From bad relationships,  being misunderstood as a young man , changing the world, fighting  back against oppression, and just feeling good vibes through beats and rhymes that make you want to dance and celebrate  is what you will get from listening to music from  JTL. There is so much more that can be said about JTL and his style and life but that is what the music is for.  So let the music speak for itself and give you the introduction to what is sure to become the next big thing that is here to stay, JTL...

Neophyte, for sure, and these are all my newly found treasures, that I have dug up from around the world.  One day I will produce some tracks again, until then, I will spend every minute listening to all the newly found gems!
