The Date Rape Romeos hail from Denton, TX.. they've been thrilling audiences with their heartfelt ballads & rockin' jams for the past 3 years.. they're about to release their first album "HEARTACHE, HEARTBREAK" on ASR Records, and they're proud to debut their BRAND NEW TRACKS here on Soundcloud, months before the album is released!! A SOUNDCLOUD EXCLUSIVE!!

In 2008, Lenny Heartfelt had a dream to create a rockin' garage band, and wanted to become the success that he always wanted to be.. Lenny had been recording his own music for years & years, but grew tired of being a nobody. So he decided to put an ad in the Dallas Observer, looking for musicians to assist him in his quest for stardom, and the people who responded sure didn't disappoint!! (Interesting note; Lenny still has a copy of that printed ad hanging on his wall, laminated.. a precious keepsake..)

The tale of how the DATE RAPE ROMEOS has become legendary, a solid part of Denton folklore.. First, Lenny met up with a 22 year-old knockout named Sheila Weir.. she wanted to play guitar for Lenny, but he really didn't think she was ready.. but they hit it off personally, and started dating..

Then, Lenny was contacted by an old friend from high school, Lewis Lou and offered to be the drummer for Lenny's new band.. Lenny agreed site unseen..

Louis also told Lenny of an incredible musician that he would always see hanging around Fry St in Denton.. one night, they approached the man, and asked him to come over and jam.. and they did, and Sam Shanks instantly became the rhythm guitarist for the DATE RAPE ROMEOS! At the time, Sam had just released his critically acclaimed debut album "Sam Shanks Sez," so that little touch of credibility was bestowed upon the ROMEOS.. Sam's pal Papa Don joined the cast too, helping out on backing vocals & choreography.

Then, Lenny discovered a female bass player who not only could rock, but could also write breathtaking lyrics that would later capture the hearts of dozens! Patty Graves because the next member of the DATE RAPE ROMEOS.. and suddenly, against the wishes of Lewis & Patty, Sheila was given the role of lead guitarist.. something that didn't quite sit well with the other members of the group.. they claimed she only got the spot because she was "fucking Lenny".. but Lenny insists that wasn't the case, and that they were just jealous.. especially Patty.. she knows she wants Lenny, but she's too bitter, and isn't attractive enough for me..

The fully formed band began rehearsals, and decided that the time was right to find a producer, and record they're first LP.. they met with many different people, and decided to enlist Vero Xen, legendary local talent, founder of Fringe Records, and leader of the New Revolt.. and the DATE RAPE ROMEOS went to Vero's studio, recorded the tracks for "Heartache, Heartbreak" and that was that..

So there, the DATE RAPE ROMEOS were born, starting a mini revolution in the Denton/Dallas area! Stay tuned, because the ROMEOS are about to BREAK OUT in a BIIIIIIIIG WAY!! :)
