Here's the full set from my Dub Circle performance live from the rotunda in Camperdown Park, Sydney recorded on Nov 9th 2019. This was my first ever live performance using laptop, Maschine and an additional controller.

Dub Circle is a project developed together with visual artist Gabrielle Bates, which aimed to activate the park and create a new, modern interpretation of traditional ritual. 

Over 18 months I recorded sounds from Camperdown Park and the surrounding block using various mics and a zoom recorder. Exclusively using these sounds I created riddims combining field recordings, found percussion and melodic elements to create the soundtrack for the event. I also recorded and used reverb convolutions from spaces around the park from alleyways, basketball courts, kids slides, etc. If you're curious about any particular sounds leave a comment in the set timeline and I'll get back to you on how it was sourced. 

Dub Circle was performed from the rotunda in the park during a stunning sunset on Nov 9th 2019 on Sydney's infamous Inner West Reggae Disco Machine Soundsytem, also built in the local area. Dancers and community members of all ages and walks of life participated in a procession & dance around the cricket oval. Costumes and masks had been created throughout the year by Gabrielle Bates and additionally through a series of local workshops with community schools in the area.
