"My dad was first diagnosed with cancer in April 2001, but probably had been sick for quite a while without even knowing it. 

At first, they operated him and tried all sorts of hormone therapies. With mixed results. It took these hormones quite a while to adjust to his body, and were effective for a short amount of time, leaving him weaker and sicker than before. 

Around 2009 there were no more hormones to treat him with. So they turned to chemo and radiation therapy. With the chemo some sort of pattern emerged.  With every round he got sicker and weaker, until his body had adjusted to the chemo, and then he would bounce back again. But never as strong as he was before he started the chemo. 

He never lost hope. He always spoke about his illness as his "little problem", which was a real understatement. He always remained very positive, until the very end. 

His death came to us as a total surprise. And to him. He had just started a new round of chemo again. He was sure he would bounce back again. He had plans. But his body decided otherwise. It all went really fast. We had fun and talks on Tuesday night, he fell into a coma on Thursday night, and he died on Saturday. 

He never got to see my second-born son, he barely got to be the grandfather to my first-born son.

This track is my representation of him. I am not sure how this track started. The beat-section was done quite a while earlier, and one night I was messing around with these beats and my then new SH-201 synth. When I finally had the moody bit, it all came together very quickly. 

The moody progression represents the ever-continuing cycle of him taking the hormones and the chemo, getting sicker, the blood results showing slight improvement and him starting to feel a bit better again, but then losing effect way to soon.

When I listen to the track, I feel there is hope in there too, until the very end. 

Due to the hormones he could be very grumpy sometimes. The bassline is him "mopperend or grumpy" about nothing and anything. 

The last bit represents his sudden passing; him fading away... My Dad died on January 18th, 2014. I still miss him to this day.

When Andy Bass Agenda first mentioned this project, later named: "Touched Bass", I immediately said that I want to be part of it. With "Track for My Father".

UPDATE august 2019:

Pleased to say the repress of BA050 will be hitting stores soon. The first in the Transhumanism series went down a storm and has been out of stock for ages. The original pressing was on orange vinyl. This time it’s on black with an orange sticker to match the second in the series and the 3rd which will be released in September.

There are no plans to sell this on Bandcamp. So check the decent stores out there - some taking preorders already.

In February 2016 5 people from the Bass Agenda family met in person for the first time at Whip It! - an Electro night hosted by Dave Clarke and held at The Melkweg, Amsterdam. 

Inspired by the meeting, the friendship, the music and the experience of the night they set out to make the 50th release on Bass Agenda Recordings - 'Transhumanism'. 

As a compilation of Dutch Electro from the deep underground the vinyl is a deep orange pressing and strictly limited to 200 copies.

Hot on the heels of volume 2 CE returns with the 3rd edition of the World Electronix series. This time with another sizzling line up of global electro talent. With the first 2 EP's aimed at the darker, moody side of the genre this EP ventures into lighter, deeper territories with exclusive tracks from J.T.C, Gosub, Sync 24 & DeFeKT and Versalife.

Kicking off preceedings is Michigan native and all round production wizard Tadd Mulinix aka J.T.C (Nation, Ghostly, Creme). Whatever genre Tadd lends his hand to something special arises and for CE he turns in a great Drexcyian insired track with dreamy pads and pulsating chords!

Keeping things on the U.S side is Miami resident and Isophlux founder Shad T Scott aka Gosub. An electro stalwart for over 10 years Shad has released on labels including Frustrated Funk, Solar One, Transient Force and Abstract Forms. For this EP he delivers a signature style electro funk laden groove for the mind and floor.

The B side is headed up with a new collaboration between CE label head Sync 24 and Dublin based electro/techno producer DeFeKT. Matt Flanagan has been making waves in the electro scene for the last few years with great releases for Solar One Music, Combat Recordings and AC records to name a few. For his CE debut he and Sync 24 turn in a pure modular analogue groove reminiscent of the late 90's electro sound.

Rounding off the EP is Dutch electro/techno heavy weight Boris Bunnik aka Versalife/Conforce. A real power house in modern electronic music Boris has been consistenty releasing on the hottest labels including Clone, Frustrated Funk, Delsin and Rush Hour. Appearing as Versalife on this EP he comes with pounding 808 kicks, slippery machine percussion, lush strings and bubbly acid!
