Based in San Francisco, born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Julius Papp turned to dance music because of the city’s flourishing club scene and diverse radio broadcasts. Collecting vinyl in the mid-'70s then taking to the turntables in 1985, Julius Papp, the DJ, scored his first major club gig two years later. His musical influences include 70s Disco and New Wave from the 80’s, adding to his diverse yet superiorly soulful mixing style. 

Not content on limiting his ambitions and potential to just the DJ booth, Julius began producing music in 1994. His first genre release was then Acid Jazz, drawing attention from the jazz and funk scene in San Francisco and later Mushroom Jazz's Mark Farina. Inspired by the Mushroom Jazz music format, Julius continued with the down-tempo vibe, landing him a production on the popular compilation and a supporting-headliner spot at a few parties alongside the incredible Mark Farina. 

This has also led to his own downtempo mixtape series under the ‘Lazy Daze' moniker which he uses when playing a more loungey/chilled style of music. 

Julius Papp's production catalog includes Neo Disco, Famous, Transport, Esho, City Deep, Nite Grooves, DAE Recordings, Paper Recordings, Nervous Records, King Street Sounds, LARGE Music, OM Records, Soulfuric Records, Dope Wax (Kenny Dope's label), and Salted Music. 

Julius Papp's new collaboration with South Africa's Slow Mo Lounge is 3 hours of back-to-back edits, soul, funk, disco, and nu-disco, acid jazz, hip hop in a slow (95BPM - 105BPM) melting pot, alongside Soweto-born founder, Kongisto. 

Julius Papp plays the 1st hour and 17 minutes then Kongisto plays the rest. Love from Diepkloof, Soweto, and San Francisco, USA.

Did this little bootie of PHOENIX - "Everything is Everything" mixed with TODD TERJE's - "Kul i pul" live at home some years ago, because at that time they were two of my favorite tracks (and they still are, they both sound really modern today, too)  and then kinda lost interest and never finsihed it. Played it some weeks ago and people really loved it. Recently I found it in the basement of my computer and thought it might be fun to finish and share it with you, shortly before the new PHOENIX album comes out. My production sounds a bit rough, but hey..... Just enjoy!
