BBE Music presents Croatian Blue, the debut compilation from DJ and producer Eddy Ramich, showcasing some of the finest musicians and producers from his homeland, many of whom recorded exclusive new material especially for the project.

Founder of Kontrapunkt, one of the longest running club nights in Zagreb and host of a show on the city’s radio station ‘101’ for 18 years, Eddy Ramich has been championing great music in Croatia and beyond for three decades now. Now residing in Berlin, Ramich’s deep roots in Croatia’s music scene have enabled him to feature some of his home country’s most exciting talents on this impeccable and carefully curated selection of music.

With the help of his friend, local DJ and producer Jan Kincl, Eddy began to search for unreleased tracks by some of his favourite artists and also to request original works for the album.

Focussing on fresh creative output coming through the Croatian music scene, the album roams from laidback Balearic sounds and languid jazz, through to Chicago and Detroit influenced House and melodic techno.

“It was really exciting for me to curate this compilation for one of my favourite labels, BBE Music” says Ramich. “The moment couldn’t have been better chosen, as it was just before the COVID epidemic struck, and so the album painted a picture just before the world was changed forever. This can only be a snapshot of the current Croatian scene. I am really curious about what the future holds for the sound of Croatia. Enjoy this small glimpse into the crystal ball.”

Hot To The Touch 100921 with FF Edits & Discoholic Ken on Prime Radio

I crammed a good few brand new promos into the first hour of this episode, some of which are so new I only downloaded them an hour or two before the show. We’ve got shiny new goodies from Hotmood, Kristoff MX, Twin Sun, Shalvoy and myself - my one’s available as a freebie and the others are coming to a record label near you soon. 

I’m on guest mix duties for hour 2, and you can blame covid for that. Luckily I had a mix lying around gathering dust, one that I did a couple of months back for a show that ceased to exist in the few months between being asked to do the mix and getting round to actually doing it. That was quite annoying, but at least I’m able to get it out there. It’s a bit different to most of my other mixes, on a fairly boogie tip and pretty low tempo for the most part. If you listen carefully you’ll hear a couple of songs that I’ve sampled for recent tracks. 

I’ll have a proper guest mix for you next time, look forward to it! In the meantime - big ups, big love and big tunes.

Too Slow To Disco continues its goal to bring some much needed Sunshine, Love and Romance back into modern Pop music and dancefloors, via the new Sunset Nu Disco / Daytime Disco release on TSTD NEO: The original is a collaboration of two of the most interesting new modern Nu Disco/Pop producers, Canada’s NICOLAAS and Stockholm’s KIMCHII (on vocals). To round up the package, we present an incredibly smooth dubby downbeat disco remix by L.A.’s Turbotito (formerly one half of Poolside) and Kimchii gives the romantic POP original a more dancefloor orientated remix-version.

In NICOLAAS’ words:
“Nostalgia plays a huge role in this project. I find a lot of inspiration when looking back - be it to my own memories, older music, art, fashion, or perspectives in-general. There’s so much to look back at, it constantly pushes us forward. To me, this track evokes a feeling of nostalgia. Referring to love, looking back is a good way to ground yourself in the present. We learn more about ourselves with each relationship we build, and hopefully grow from those experiences.”

In Kimchii’s words:
”Forever Always is a song about love and desire which outplays in twilight landscapes, on a journey towards somewhere else. Both me and NICOLAAS vibe in these landscapes, so we created this song together online, by sending files back and forth to Winnipeg and Stockholm. Many parts of the track were written during the nighttime and I believe that gives the song that special feeling too.
We’re both more than happy to share the song with you all. You’re the light at the end of the tunnel - forever always!”
