Several years in the making, “So Many Ways” is the artistic manifestation of one’s own freedom, the attempt to reflect the diversity of the world around us, the countless opportunities, scenarios and creative means we all have. It’s a breath-taking soulful journey, where uplifting house tracks (Let Me Fly Away, A Little Faith, Can’t Help It) interchange with serious political messages (Stand Up), romantic dance ballads (Summer Vacation, A piece of Devotion, So Many Years), infectious jazzy grooves (Yes You Can, When I’m Seeing You), introspective bangers (That Dream, We Are the Drum) and ironic interludes, making fun of trends and consumerism culture. Here, original 70/80's jazz-funk/disco-soul combo Odyssey have re-recorded some of their best-known hits and fan favourites in the company of London producer Yam Who. They're lucky in some regards that they're in the company of a talented and sympathetic producer, because in the wrong hands "Legacy" could have been a dog's dinner. As it is, it works brilliantly, with now familiar favourites like "Use It Up & Wear It Out" and "Inside Out" given tasteful but distinctly different updates that should appeal to die-hard fans and newcomers alike.

Six, count 'em, six! boogie bangers 

So you've just dropped 'Never Too Much' at the request of that pesky group of well meaning keen beens at the front of the dancefloor. Here are a plethora of tracks that you can follow it with. 'Love You So Much' is basically an ode to the aforementioned classic, with it's silky Vandross-eque vocals courtesy of XXX. Production-wise Ziggy Phunk has absolute nailed that classic 80s sound, more so than any producer we've heard recently. Away from the smoocher we get 'Alone Without You' which is more like a Fatback Band anthem, looped up percussion, big synth stabs, slap bass, digital horns and a sweet jittered female vocal to boot. All perfect for the Connoisseurs Corner at the Southport Weekender. rate: 9/10
