DoctorSoul is one of the hottest Parisian Disco & Soul producers, who releases his music a.o. on Yam Who?’s überhip Disco Label MIDNIGHT RIOT RECORDS from London. His releases often reach the Disco DownLoad Charts, he just reached No 1 in the Traxsource charts with “Secret Friend”. He has his own unique production style, which is always on the dubby side if things, but still very poppy and true to the original. A difficult balance, that he masters like not many others.  One of the reasons for this special sound might be the fact that he was born and raised in West Africa. On the musical production side, DoctorSoul has collaborated with many artists/ bands from diverse genres (Funk/ Disco/ Boogie/ Rock/ Rap and even in Jazz) in bringing production remixes for the likes of legendary Brazilian pianist virtuoso TANIA MARIA, singer JEFF CASCARO, or Soul/ Westcoast music band MANDOO, and Disco/Funk veteran act INTERVIEW (among others...). 
Dj Supermarkt’s sets are full of his productions for years now, but it was when he heard DoctorSoul’s amazing, totally unique production work for “Saturday Morning”, that he immediately called him to save that track for a new TSTD EDITS 10 Inch.

Sharon Robinson, AKA ‘Terea’ (her middle name) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer, best known, loved and adored as a frequent writing collaborator of Leonard Cohen. She toured as back-up singer for Cohen in 1979 and 1980, and then again during 2008–2013. They co-wrote the songs “Everybody Knows” and “Waiting for the Miracle”, released in 1988 and 1992 respectively. In 2001 she co-wrote, produced, arranged and performed the backing tracks (as well as appearing alongside Cohen on the cover) for his album Ten New Songs. Robinson also contributed to three tracks on Cohen's 2004 album Dear Heather, and duetted with Cohen on “The Letters”. At the start of her career she released a wonderful, self-titled soul album called simply, “Terea” from which we’ve plucked the glorious ‘Pretty Bird’. The album’s release was undermined by the record label being a glorified tax dodge, but was finally re-issued by Jazzman Records. Sharon has also written songs for a number of other artists, including The Pointer Sisters, Aaron Neville, Brenda Russell, Diana Ross, Don Henley, Michael Bolton, Randy Crawford, Patti LaBelle, Roberta Flack, and The Temptations. Many thanks to Marc Janssen from Everland Records for helping us license this track.


On Volume 2 of The Ladies of Too Slow to Disco, DJ Supermarkt has brought together 16 compelling tunes and hidden gems from 1974-82 that tell a deeper, more political story, while taking the suave sounds you love into new territory: soul, gospel and jazz. The songs on this compilation are from women who were taking control of their own careers, making an independent stance in some of the most trying years for women in the history of the recording industry. In an effort to tell the often untold, yet deeply influential, stories of this delicious period of music, Volume 2 highlights songs from players who broke through the machismo that sat upon the glass ceiling before them to create classics.

Decided to go in with Isaac Freed on the bass, slow it down add some beats and samples, have fun with it. I liked the original but the key sounded too upbeat, I wanted to take it in a more moody route. Slowed it down to 100bpm so it's a bit out of key, but feels good this way, Hope you dig.

There's much to admire on this first full outing from newcomer Ferdinand Debeaufort, whose only previous outing was a sole track on Slightly Transformed's recent Summer Numbers 2020 compilation. By and large, the re-edits are bouncy and floor-focused, with the lavishly named Debeaufort adding a bit more percussive pressure to a variety of disco-centric cuts. He starts in confident mood with a brilliantly chopped-up and rearranged version of an old Fantastic Aleems cut ('Funny Feeling'), before dancing his way through a rubbery disco-boogie number (the synth-sporting 'Make Love'). Elsewhere, 'Casou' is a killer version of a mid-80s French synth-boogie number, 'Can't Do It Alone' is a horn-sporting disco celebration built around short, subtly changing loops, and 'Show Me How' is a low-slung treat.
