The name came from PPz member, who as  a kid chillin @ his dad's house heard prince and purple rain then in town saw  a pamphlet of the Black Panthers. Davey D " I thought it looked like my school mascot so I wrote lyrics like 'crazy about u' and made my own record cover with cardboard and drew on the cover for a band called "the purple Panthers."
