A powerful traditional song of rebellion about the daring young men from Knockanure who died at the hands of the Black and Tans.  The song tells that no songs had been written in memory of these brave rebels, until this song.

This is a song about the demise of the Linen mills in East Belfast.  This song deals with a much broader theme with mill closures in traditional industries being seen in cities and countries all over.  The classic line from this song is; I'm too old to work, but I'm too young to die.....   I first heard this song sung by Colm O'Brien in the Boston Irish Pub Durty Nellys, where you can still hear Colm sing this song every Wednesday night.

This is a song I first heard sung live by Bacchus Nel, a South African artist at the Clarens Craft Beer Festival in Feb 2013. The song is sung in Afrikaans.

A poignant pop song, with a real twist in the tail (listen to the last verse). Very popular in Wales because Tom Jones made it a huge hit in 1966.  Written by Claude "Curley" Putman and sung by various singers before Jones, including Jerry Lee Lewis, and Joan Baez, from 1965. This is my cover of that great song. A cover of Dominic Behan's moving song of rebellion, the Patriot Game, sung by several musicians including Liam Clancy and the Clancy Brothers.  The song refers to an incident during the Border Campaign launched by the Irish Republican Army during the 1950s, with the main subject being Fergal O'Hanlon, an IRA Volunteer from Ballybay, County Monaghan who was killed at the age of 20 in an attack on Brookeborough Royal Ulster Constabulary barracks in County Fermanagh - January 1st 1957. The operation was devised and led by Sean Garland (IRA), of Dublin. Another volunteer, Seán South from Limerick, was also killed during the raid(the link to the rousing song Sean South).  Dominic Behan later became good friends with Sean Garland.  The image is my own picture of a lonely road heading up deep into Joyce Country County Mayo.

This is a fun song describing Donald from the Isle of Sky, in his kilt, who heads down to London Town to have a little fun in the underground.  This is a cover of the song by Andy Stewart from 1960.
