Mix of the Month Winner September 2025 - Pwnda

A peak-time one-hour set recorded live at the Burning Man Denver Decompression event (2025), performed as Elite Force aka Simon Shackleton.

This mix has a raw intensity to it – genre-crossing with driving basslines, twisted grooves, and cinematic edges – designed for full throttle lift-off. 

It was such a fun night to be a part of. I've been part of the extended Burning Man community for over 15 years now and it's always an honour to share what I do with so many beautiful, creative souls.

The latest chapter in the CHPTR series took place on Saturday 8th November in San Francisco.
 
Definitely not one I'll forget as we decided to drive there from Denver at the last minute to avoid airport issues during the protracted government shutdown ... a round trip of 2800 miles with some absolutely splendid conversation and scenery en route.

The VOID system in the basement of Monarch was a joy to play on, and the packed house bought the vibes once again as only San Francisco can!

This was the first time I've ever done a show and installed the PA (my own, new EAW rig), which bought its own stresses ... but the vibe was great all night long at Junkyard Social Club, and we sold out of Advance Tickets before the event, which is always nice!

Event Spotlight: The Odyssey @ The Edge (Jacksonville)
The Details
Date: Friday, June 10, 1994
Venue: The Edge (Jacksonville)

Location: 845 University Blvd N, Jacksonville, FL (later became Plush).
The Space: A massive, cavernous venue famous for its booming acoustics. Unlike the converted movie theater of its Orlando counterpart, the Jacksonville location was a dedicated concert and nightlife hall known for a sound system where "the drums would really kick your ass". 

The DJs: Keoki , Icee (changed to Icey later on), Kimball Collins, Chris Harshman, Bruce Wilcox, Baby Anne, DJ Spel,  Robert Goodman, DJ Zane,  Ray Mueller

The Vibe & Atmosphere
The Era: Mid-1994 was the peak of the "Florida Breaks" explosion. The Odyssey series is known among collectors for its distinct sound, with surviving mixtapes from the era (including a verified 1993 Odyssey mix) featuring nearly 3 hours of driving old-school tracks.

The Crowd: This was the golden age of the rave scene—expect baggy JNCOs, beads, glow sticks, and a crowd energized by the sheer volume of the music. The venue was darker and grittier than many modern clubs, often lit by intelligent lighting rigs and lasers cutting through heavy fog.

The Music: While the specific lineup for this night is elusive, events at The Edge in 1994 were part of a tight circuit that regularly rotated Florida legends. You would typically hear:
Florida Breaks: The dominant sound of the night, characterized by heavy, syncopated basslines and melodic breakdowns.

Acid & Techno: Harder, driving rhythms that were popular in the Jacksonville underground.
