What a party!

Nubreed & Infusion blew me away and the crowd was as good as any I've been to in years. 

Earlier in the afternoon Dan and I go to play together for the first time in forever as well. Like riding a bike, we found our feet pretty quickly and had a blast bouncing off each other and sharing the music we'd recently discovered (or re-discovered).

Saturday Night

After Andreas Henneberg slayed the main stage, Uone, the crew and I grabbed the decks and headed to a little kiosk tucked away deep amongst the trees. We set everything up and I got to play to a small but very appreciative selection of crew as the nearby bonfire kept us warm. 

The set starts quite deep and then ebbs and flows in energy. Listening back to it recently I can certainly hear Patrice Baumel's influence to the way that I was playing. Both the music itself and the construction of the set. 

The set also contains a few of my all time favourite pieces of music by Kiasmos, Sashca Funke and Guy J.

I wanted to craft a mix that was non-linear and deviated from the usual slow long build into a crescendo that my prog mixes normally travel. This, as the name suggests, rises and falls, while also hopefully maintaining a tension and connection that keeps the listener's interest.

Words can not express the joy I had playing at the Sunset Stage at RSF this past weekend. To be surrounded by some of my closest friends, playing the music I love in such beautiful surroundings will always stay with me. 

This is the set I played on Saturday Morning 10am - 11:30am. Rerecorded the ending as it was cut short to clean the area and I wanted have the entire last track there to enjoy.

Today saw the second last show, and last time that I'll be playing on the infamous Walk of Shame show on Kiss FM

For 10 years these two crazy characters have been providing the laughs and providing the platform for local Melbourne DJ's to share with the world their love of music.

After having the honour of warming up for Henry Saiz last year I was thrilled to have another the opportunity to do it again. This time Darkbeat ran the party at Melbourne's new hotspot Railway Hotel in Brunswick.

Darkbeat have hosted a couple of killer day parties lately in that courtyard. Apparat, DJ T, Stanton Warriors and this time they were back with Henry.

Warming up I wanted to create a fun happy vibe, yet give Henry somewhere to go and not go too full on too early. The set was recorded from 5:00pm - 6:30pm

I got to play some music I really love (in particular that Midland remix and Lancelot - Mover) and finished with one of my fav tracks of 2015 from Melbourne legend Retza called Projections on Lister Cooray & Kasey Taylor's new label Lo-Fi-45.

Dave Juric - Henry Saiz Warm Up August 2017

For 10 years My Aeon has provided the inner north with a unique gem of a club. Pre-reno was a haven for the wild and obscure. A place to hear sick beats, chill out on the chesterfields or get wonky out the back. Post-reno it has become super slick & stylish...and that sound!!

Being asked to open the club on this occasion was a huge honour and I was really happy with the response I had from all the punters so thought I'd share. 

It's a little bit varied and odd, but thats what I like to hear when I first walk into a club rather than the ubiquitous 4x4 you're exposed to as the club fills.

i'll set the scene. It's 5am and my wife and I begin a 7 hour bus journey from the south of montenegro up to croatia. 

the coast along the adriatic sea has some of the most beautiful views in all my travels around the world and while I let the scenery wash over me I felt inspired to make a mix. 

this set doesn't follow any genre or real method to its madness its just a bunch of music I felt like listening to in the moment. 

it starts out a little bit deep and wonky and as we progressed along the coast and the sun and temperature began to rise so did the tempo and energy of the music.

Welcoming one of the scenes undisputed legends, Dave Juric to our Red Moon Sessions. With a career spanning over a decade, Dave Juric has solidified himself as a true multi-genre specialist emphasized through his warm up set for progressive heavyweights such as Henry Saiz, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Oliver Schories & Danny Howells while also warming up for the likes of James Zabiela, Patrice Baumel, Stacey Pullen, Thomas Schumacher, Matthias Meyer & Metodi Hristov. Not a bad resume if you ask us!

Alongside an illustrious career as a club DJ, he has also been booked to perform at renowned festivals like Rainbow Serpent, Lost Paradise (NSW), Subsonic (NSW), Babylon, Esoteric, Tell No Tales, Electric Gardens, Summadayze & Let Them Eat Cake. 

Recorded live at Mystic River, his incredible 4 hour is I packed full of his favourite progressive house gems, both new and old. Red Moon Sessions #048 - Dave Juric

Since his passing I felt inspired, compelled even to honour him with a mix. For nearly 20 years he sent me running to the decks to mess around with throwing tracks together just too see if it could work. I wanted to capture that feeling one last time. 

After spending a few weeks on it, I just couldn't make it work. Then on Friday after spending a few hours tuning in to KissFM with all his friends I was able to find inspiration to finish it. 

I wanted to capture his essence without being derivative, to celebrate his love for syncopation while also reflecting his eclectic taste, to be melancholic but also fun.
