Black Hole (Serenity)

I’m confused, you say you care, but you refuse to do your share.
Afraid to lose, your heart is bare and lonely.
So you batten down the hatches, run with scissors, play with matches,
Wondering just what the catch is; only your side’s right.

I’m distraught, and quite distracted, what you’ve said, and how you’ve acted.
How your living has impacted those you claim to love.
Nothing seems to jive and fit, not even a little bit,
Doncha think you might’ve twisted what you’re s’posed to do.

But you’re feeling pretty good about yourself.
You’re just biding time till you reach heaven.
You’ve got all the answers down.
Confident that only you are right.
And you love to spout your knowledge of the Book
‘Specially when it serves to suit your purpose.
But you never ever really learned what it means to love. And that’s kinda big.

INSTRUMENTAL

I’m concerned that in your journey, maybe you forgot to learn the
Goal is not just where you’ll spend eternity.
You’ve got things you need to do here, Jesus made oh so clear,
But you’ve given in to fear, and that’s not in the plan.

But you’re feeling pretty good about yourself.
