Three o'clock in the morning. It's you sitting in a smoky bar at a little round table somewhere in a dark corner. In the left hand you've got a cigarette. You're eyes are staring at the glass of whisky that is standing on the table in front of you. You've wrapped it with your right hand. Prepared to lift it up to take the next sip. You're alone with youre thoughts. Even the barkeeper has left the dive bar half an hour ago. The beautiful sound of the piano enchant your thoughts (your lyrics take place, dreamful wishes). 

Even the pianoplayer didn't realize that he's not alone. He likes to play as long as his fingers would do the job. The only thing waiting for him, is an empty room out there somewhere. He can't stand to go there... Outside the bar one already can hear the garbage men doing their job. Soon the sun will rise... A new day...

Really well done Dave.  I get the sense of a somke filled room and a solitary piano man just trying to make a buck.  Something about this track with your piano melody added brings a new and subdued character to it.  Very jazzy, very hip.

It's my first and hopefully not last collaboration with the wonderful Dirk Maassen. 
I was very pleased when Dirk asked me to record a guitar part to his piece Déjà vu.
I recorded 2 versions, an improvised version and a more composed version. I decided to post my improvised version. It simply has more charisma and contrast to the piano.

I hope you appreciate this piece. I must be honest, Cubase was critical to create this track. I had it for a long time in my head. I tried many times to play it but it was never good. I'm not such a good piano player, so I decided to record two sections: one for the harmony and the other for the melody. I hope you appreciate, however, the composition and the passion with which I played.

I joined the Piano Cloud this week and thought perhaps I should make a piano track to celebrate. But the rest of you should keep the cork in that bottle: my piano skills being pretty limited you will very quickly understand why I haven't made one before. That should explain the title!

The chord track was a one run improvisation and then I improvised a melody line over the top...though it took a few attempts to line up this second track to the first. For the techies, the sound is the NNXT default grand piano patch in Reason, and I play on a semi-weighted M-Audio Keystation 88.
