As soon as you hear the propulsive, pared-down sound of Klienfeld & Malt’s “Believe,” you know that the New Yorker is a man with techno in his bones. Klienfeld refers to his own approach as a “stripped down Detroit” kind of feel. In fact, that’s part of what drew Alexander Technique—whose Drop Ready Records is releasing the three-track Believe EP on May 9—to Klienfeld in the first place. “I first saw Klienfeld DJing at an after-hours warehouse party and he was playing the sickest techno,” he recalls. “I went up to him when he was playing ‘Strike’ by Jimmy Edgar and we became friends instantly. I asked if he made music and when he said yes, I had to put him on my label.”

In that spirit, “Believe” is all about the beat, but it also offers no shortage of sonic atmosphere. Klienfeld’s blend of texture and momentum is probably what’s gotten him the admiration of DJ icons like Danny Tenaglia and Todd Terry. But you don’t really need to hear anybody else’s opinion of Klienfeld in order to get into “Believe.” All you have to do is listen and let the track take over.  // as said on BIG SHOT MAGAZINE 'PREMIERE'

Berghain residents Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann link back to Ostgut Ton’s label launch in 2006 with their first studio collaboration in ten years and the extended Phantom Studies, on occasion of the one hundredth O-TON 12“ EP release.

With Phantom Studies Dettmann | Klock channel their first joined releases Dawning (2006) and Scenario (2007) from over a decade ago with their first co-production in ten years. On this extended, 40-minute 2x12" EP Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock parlay their deep personal alliance and musical repertoire through emphasis on new functional Techno as much as hypnotic, melodic and soulful music by thinking outside the box. The seven new, original tracks reflect these attributions by communicating to the needs and expectations of both DJs and home audio listeners, but not neglecting one over the other.

It’s almost as if Techno is in Mark Reeve’s DNA. With the electronic pulses flowing through through his veins as the draw of the Techno Fatherland led Mark to settle in Germany, where he has since established his reputation on labels such as Cocoon, Drumcode, Bedrock, Soma and Trapez.
