Livin' Sin (one String Cigar Box Guitar)

This is the opening track from "Backatchya," the debut release from Little Joe Ayers, a North Mississippi Hill Country musician. While "Backatchya" is his first solo album, he was a lifelong friend, bassist, and songwriter with Junior Kimbrough, who is perhaps best known now as being the main influence on The Black Keys. "Backatchya" was released by Devil Down Records in September 2011.

Just a home made guitar built from junk
A cigar box guitar for blues 'n' funk

Been working a long day in my shed
Building a guitar from a plan in my head
Sawdust & shavings the smell in the air
Cutting & sanding my knuckles are bare

Now a cigar box guitar's a simple thing
Made from 2 by 1 and some steel string
An old wooden box meant for cigar
put it all together... you got a guitar!

Ive put in a humucker to electrify
Plugged it in my amp and testify
The sweet sweet sound of southern swamp
Got me rockin blues... doing the stomp!
