Monday night. It was still dark when I started. But everyone already sensed the first sunrise of this year’s Burning Man. I had arrived at the Black Rock Desert just hours before. After traveling direct from Germany which took more than two days.

I knew that the sun would rise 40 minutes into my set. I wanted to build everything around that. But when the sun indeed appeared over the dark mountains in the distant that moment, it was overwhelming. It felt like the music was manifesting itself now, with no more help from me, and we all were traveling into a new day together.

After two standout sets from Andreas Henneberg and his alter-ego Cascandy during our Desert Hearts 3 Year Anniversary Festival, we fell in love with the work-horse producer from Berlin and knew we had to have him release on Desert Hearts Records. Everything from Andreas' music, his vibe, and his personality were a perfect fit for our Desert Hearts Family. We were even more excited when Andreas told us he'd love to release on our label as The Glitz, his breakout side project with production partner and DJ Daniel Nitsch. While the title track "Chubby Cheek" leans more on the techier side, it's the B-Side "Freedamn" that embodies everything that Desert Hearts stands for: Love, Freedom, & Positive Energy for the world. Both tracks are heavily hip hop influenced and have been consistently setting dance floors on fire. We couldn't be more proud to welcome Andreas and Daniel from The Glitz to Desert Hearts Records. The Gib mir den Bass EP from Michi Mueller is a "must-have" on the upcoming open-air and festival season. The Original Mix is a deep house track with an powerful saxo melody, chasing vocal and a driving beat. Melodic breakdowns and a pensive hook are the reasoning behind the title of the Bonus Track Love Yeah, a track that emits sunshine and solstice with every lasting note. Wir freuen uns riesig euch heute unsere Nummer 16 zu präsentieren. Und das von niemandem geringeres als Soul Button, den wir am 8. April im Bullitt Club, München zu Gast haben werden.

Interview:

How and when did you get into electronic music?

I think I was around 17 when I listened to Kraftwerk for the first time and I was completely shocked with the sounds they were producing. I then started to do some research and after some months, discovered that Roland was making one of its first drum machines. I convinced my father to buy one and started to make music. Over the first year, I was only programming drums... no bass lines, no synths, only drums. Keep in mind there were no computers back then either. I then bought a sampler AKAI 900 months later and I produced my first techno vinyl at the age of 19. That was almost 20 years ago now. :)

Which musical moments have been especially memorable to you? 

For sure when I was very young, around 18, during the periods when I started creating my first techno live sets for illegal rave parties. I’m talking about free parties, it meant I was playing in front of 2-3 thousand people sometimes. Nice memories … 

Which plans do you have for the future with Steyoyoke?

Personally my goal is to release an album, but I don't think this will happen for a while, because I don’t have so much free time to stay in studio at the moment. Between my label office work and gigs, it keeps me very busy, but an album is definitely on the cards for the future. 

In regards to Steyoyoke, there aren't any really big plans. We just want to keep releasing good quality music with strong artistic concepts. All the artists are becoming more and more mature and the sound is evolving more and more, in its own unique way. I guess this is the key and my biggest goal.

If you could choose to play at any venue in the world, which place would it be?

Definitely at Warung in Brazil. I think it’s one of the most beautiful clubs and somewhere where I would love to play.
