BIO
I've been writing music since the mid 90's and this is a collection of my solo work. There's tons more has still never seen the light of day. Mostly ambient ideas.

To date I've also been in 6 bands (discounting all the others where we never played in front of more than 10 people):

Elves In The Attic
An antidote to previous loud bands I've been in (my ears can no longer take it). Restricted to acoustic ideas, samples and unusual chord progressions - gradually expanding to incorporate cellists and other musicians. 

LISTING SHIPS
Nautical Post Rock band based in Oxford with Stuart Fowkes (bass, synths), Jim Hey (guitars), James Pamphlion (drums, guitar), Dave Balch (drums) & Russ Wainwright (drums). Different drummers at different times.

PIEXO
Long time collaboration with Jon Pound who's based in Weston Super Mare and builds excellent Lateral Sound guitar pedals.

SHAMBOLIC COLLECTIVE
Basic premise, let anyone join the band if they meet two basic criteria: 
1) They work for Oxfam. 
2) They own a musical instrument and/or can sing and aren't tone deaf. 
Far too many people to mention here but the core group were Al Kinley, Sally King, Nick Bryer, Emma Blunt, Andy Barnes, Jeroen Breman & Ben Morgan. I'm not going to begin to detail all the instruments we played.

THE TARTAN SQUIRRELS
Ceilidh Wedding band pulled together by caller Kim Wallace (Rowe). The rest of the band pretty much turned in to Shambolic Collective when she headed back to Scotland.

Soundscapes written and produced by long time collaborators Jon Pound (Lateral Sound pedal designer) & Mike Bingham (Listing Ships guitarist / keyboardist).

Listing Ships are an Oxford-based, nautically-inspired instrumental post-krautrock band. Everything about their songs reflects the band’s obsession with ships and the sea, from the titles and samples collected everywhere from Venice to Blackpool, right down to the songs’ very construction, based upon and often built around tales of the sea. The band produced their first 12" in 2012, The Hayling Island Sessions, by converting an RNLI lifeboat station into a recording studio, with artwork and samples collected from the surrounding area. 

In 2014 they released 'The Flat Holm Island Sessions' a collection of tracks recorded on the Island in November 2013. The USB release also contained a band documentary of the excursion, photographs and a map of the island incorporated in limited edition 'Message in a Bottle' style packaging.

Musically, Listing Ships take inspiration from classic krautrock like Can, Harmonia, Neu!, Ash Ra Tempel; sample-heavy, intricate electronica like Boards of Canada, Amon Tobin, Seefeel; expansive, exploratory guitar music like Tarentel,The Alps, Collections of Colonies of Bees; kings of the soundtrack world like Clint Mansell and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Listing Ships have performed alongside the likes of Damo Suzuki, Health, The Big Pink, Karma To Burn, Arbouretum, Mark Gardener (Ride) and Tall Ships, and have played at festivals including Truck, Audioscope and Supernormal, as well as in venues including art galleries and record stores.
