After the widely successful release of „Summer in Jakarta“, Jakarta Records figured it’s time to gather some artist we like, work and/or are friends with again for the second installment of the loose series. „Winter In Jakarta“ features all unreleased material by artists such as Stwo, IAMNOBODI, Mura Masa, Oddisee, Guts, L’Orange, Suff Daddy and many more. The album will be available as a free DLL on the 9th of February. Keep your eyes open for the free cassette tape edition available from selected retailers.

For the second installment of our monthly Dutch producer series,  we invited Rotterdam-based producer Moods to the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam.
Each month we invite a Dutch producer to showcase his artistry and challenge him to work in an amazingly fruitful environment.

The Red Bull Studios Amsterdam is a state-of-the-art recording and production facility, where renowned and up-and-coming artists, are provided with everything they need in order to celebrate and create music!

We also invited the alluring SIAM from Ghent (Belgium) to lay down some amazing vocals and managed to record and mix everything within a day. Her jazzy style of singing fits perfectly with Nick's production on the newly created song "Organic".

This time around we unfortunately only got to spend 1 day in the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam for our monthly 'Werk Space' project with Jengi Beats.

The young producer from Den Bosch turned 19 in January and is well on his way to becoming one of our national export products. You might know Jengi Beats, because of his affiliation with ZenSupremacy, Youtellme or Bitbird.

Anyway sir Jengi Beats worked on a little track called "Sun Sun" during his Werk Space visit to the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam.

Next week @Wantigga will join us in the studio and best believe you will discover, love and respect many more talented Dutch producers.

The Her Records unit are no strangers to BR: their family showcase on our channels remains one of the rugged gemstones in our deep archive. Release after release, their aesthetic has risen with stark distinction: a steady salvo of machine-house and metallic club ammunition, sharply-hewn for dancefloor use only.

Next in Her's armoury is 'Hague Basement' –– a bumper single from  NKC, one of the label's most exciting new recruits. Though he's been an unslippable disc in Her's backbone for a minute now, his debut statement for the imprint has been a long time coming. Gladly it doesn't fall short.

Of the three workouts on HER012, its title track is our pick of the litter: a no-nonsense bout of juggernaut drums and vocal incantations, all built to destroy the dance. Urgent, tribal and (really fucking) hard, it's fuel to feed the tireless few found after lights up in basements from South London to Den Haag.

I'll try to put it short. Basically this wasn't planned from the start, I started the beat on my own and the same day I started the track there was this singer from Montréal (A-SHO) who hit me up on my facebook page with a clean & fresh acapella. Just after listening to what Adam sent me I decided to try it out on top of what I had started already and vibe was spot on from there! So, yeah we basically met because of this track!

Khruangbin are a three-piece band from Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool.

Khruangbin team up with Boogiefuturo, the off shoot label of Bristol based Futureboogie Recordings, with a special collaborative 12" disc featuring remixes/re-edits from a veritable line up of cutting edge producers.  Session Victim, DJ Milo, Maribou State and Vuelo all come correct with re-workings of Khruangbin originals that, collectively, make up for one of the most varied and interesting remix packages of the year.  

Pressed on 12" vinyl, hand stamped and including an A4 art illustration insert, with hand drawings from Laura from Khruangbin, this package come as a limited pressing.

Excerpt from Kero: Being Korean-American, I try to keep in tune with current music from my motherland as well as the music from other Koreans around the world. In my latest mix “Seoul to LA” (succeeding my Plug Famalam and Uptempo mix series), I decided to try something I’ve never done before and present songs from my favorite Korean and Korean-American artists. Most people are familiar with most of the formulaic K-pop hits but as an avid music fan, I’ve wanted something more from Korea. In the past there were only a handful of quality groups and artists that I could say were publicly releasing dope hiphop/r&b/electronic music in Korea, but now I believe we are at a historical moment. I believe Korean music is growing like never before, and even independent artists are bleeding into the mainstream and even topping charts.

I used to be blown away when I’d tour Japan and see Japanese people vibing out to my stuff while I was rapping on stage. They didn’t understand 90% of what I was saying, but they’d always tell me after the show that they don’t understand the words, but they feel the vibe. I always wondered why it was never like that in America before the mid 2000’s. No promoter would ever throw a foreign hiphop show or attend one if they didn’t know what they were saying. Times have changed though, and America is now in that position. Even if you don’t understand what is being said in this mix, I hope you will feel the vibe like the Japanese did. This is Seoul to LA.
