Maarten van Duin (Martin Vaughn Dune), born 04 Okt. 1979 in Gouda, The Netherlands, is a Dutch DJ/Producer.

Also known as Mistah E aka DJ Mistah E aka The (Crazy) Dutch Guy aka DJ E-Razor aka MrE aka Fix and since recently going as Vaughn Dune. 
 
Operating mostly from his bedroom (now basement), due to various health complications early through his life.

Hobby producer/DJ/radio host with many styles on and off since the age of 6 years, but more seriously at the age of 16 with DJ-ing at various locations and gigs. Always for fun and excitement and for the love of sounds and vibrations. 
He created most of his tracks as instrumentals and were often made purely for instrumental purposes or for (open) vocal projects, including a Hip-Hop act and solo with a few unfinished original Dub releases.

As of now he is releasing old and new tracks via Sound Cloud for Artists with new industry standard quality masters on all available digital platforms like Spotify, Apple, Amazon, YouTube, TikTok and more.

Nowadays focusing on producing elaborate experimental works of sound from a variety of genres, mostly original, but also sample-based Hip Hop infused with Electro and Electronic influences as well as DJ-ing various House styles including Deep House, Electro House, Progressive House, Big-, Main room House and EDM like styles, mostly Trap and Drumstep, yet no stranger to other styles like Break beat, Dub step, Trip Hop, Hardcore, DnB, Hardstyle and even Funk. This is not a conclusive list and he has always been open to other styles and genres, as he is very versatile and just loves to try something new and even though he favors electronics, traditional instruments have a lot of organic soul to their sound vibrations and he likes to maintain that feeling in his tracks.

An extensive, yet unofficial and some untraceable discography is available, also some of the parties, but most of the (hobby) content was always hastily released and resulted in poor mix downs, be it also for the love of LoFi and rawness of the moment. Hard copies dissipated slowly, although there are still a few around in the underground and he has uploaded his available releases to Sound Cloud.

Lately he has been playing around a lot with a Roland Loopstation RC-505 with a stage mic, using voice, an Akai MPK mini play integrated with a Numark NS7II in Serato DJ and Reason 12 and created many song sketches in various genres and experimental realms. Some with great potential, while others just for the sake of trying for fun and experimenting with the possibilities. Now, if he only could get more grip on his chronic health conditions...

He is scheduling a booking with Open House Radio for a live set in their studio in Holbæk and hopefully secure a booking for their next beach party in the near future.

Some history:

Often on the road, also as a co driver, DJ & roadie, music and traveling was a part of daily life, private and professionally. He grew up in a top mid-class family with a typical western mentality and a psychologically abusive younger sibling, as being the black sheep of the family.

His mother was a working housewife and his father was a trucker from a successful merchant mid class family that was away for the most part, but had a little radio studio at home as a hobby & worked for the local radio station as a technician and a cover band called "The White Mansions", so he got access to music and gear and developed an early infection for all kinds of genres & gotten to be a sound and gear enthusiast from an early age.

Interested in the mechanics of tape editing jingles & mixing them with the right music, the obsession for creating and mixing was fueled. Also by other friends getting into music production & mixing and as some try outs on the age of 16 with some cheap borrowed turntables to mix records from friends & a borrowed Amiga computer to figure out producing, the obsession became a tool to express his feelings and creativity. Making fake radio shows was a thing of the past (wish I still had those tapes) & real life (live) performances, jams and bedroom productions became more and more frequent.

When discovered the Bass Boost button on one of the amplifiers in his dad's setups with the track "Boom Boom Boom" from the "Outhere Brothers", the love for electronic music and the pressure of psychological terror was swept away from just being a Synthesizer listener, to a full blown bass junkie, forgetting all his sorrows and difficulties through life and soon became a Rave head blowing and puffing established and non-established parties.

Raves weren't just for joining, he organized a range of small (misfit) events, ranging from bedroom, house and cabin parties, to truck, tunnel and various other outdoor locations like beeches, parks, forests and even squatted homes and warehouses. Mostly unsanctioned and gone with dawn, organizing parties with and for friends and acquaintances has always come as a second nature fueled by the need to rebel and provide entertainment with delinquent tendencies to express the freedom to rave, mostly responsibly(ahum?).

Part of (formerly) rapping duo "De Dondergoden" ("The Thunder gods")in the roles of beatmaker, rapper, DJ and producer and soon to be lable owner, as Fiks(Fix) aka Fikser(Fixer). Some periods they were a trio consisting of Artik aka Tik (De woorden tovenaar(The word wizard)) and DJ N-Tone, the scratch DJ at events and jams. 
Also involved through the years and with many thanks were teenage friends Kleis, Wolf and T-Jerk whom have genuinely been hanging on fun trips with the gang and massively enhanced the vibe.

With 2 on stage performances at a communal event for beginning Hip-hop artists in Gouda with a bigger final stage for a neighborhood celebration, De Dondergoden was drafted as one of the winners from the first event. With a good momentum to take advantage of the position they were in, work and personal related issues between the two lead artists clashed and the whole project derailed.

He also enjoyed scratching himself, playing the piano, guitar and finger drumming, but with arthritic hands and fingers this has always proven difficult. 
Singing and beat boxing has also always been a huge passion for him as well and often nailed it in live performances and studio recordings to a near breaking point, but due to several (severe) ruptures in the vocal chords and pneumonia on top, he had to tone down his rawness and stick to backing vocals and minor singing. He even had to cut out all vocals for a few extensive periods, to negotiate the risk of losing his voice forever. 
This also severely crippled the flow for "De Dondergoden" while they were in the process of setting up their own label "Flits Opnames" ("Flash Recordings"). with several releases on their first official album "Gedonder". 
(Which would translate from Dutch to English as in being rascals and releasing the thunder (shenanigans)).

However, plagued by early childhood physical and mental health problems and no serious help from the health system or guardians, the issues following with a combination of certain lifestyle choices, made it serious at the age of 18. Disaster struck and he was almost paralyzed for a week, due to the complex nature of an aggressive response in the bodies auto immune response and after 6 months gotten the diagnosis Adult Onset Still's disease and non-progressive arthritis. 
Luckily he reacted well to the medication and was back in the saddle with his boots on. And with minimal damage after a year of rehabilitation.

He got his truck licenses and his dreams fulfilled with a company selling plants to England and traveled some more as a sales-rep/truck driver over the next coming years.
However, after 7 years of good luck and trucking long hours with heavy physical (over)work, immense pain started to develop and he got the diagnosis chronic pain syndrome. 
After years of rehabilitation and bickering with the government agencies, he lost his truck licenses and had to recluse at home again, taking life easy on a meager sick pension. 

Years went by and after struggling to get by daily he fell into a heavy depression and developed a variety of other mental health issues, he decided not to let this get him and kept doing to things he enjoyed most, music and gaming hardcore. He then started playing a game call Project Entropia that was in the process of becoming Entropia Universe and was the first game incorporating a real life cash economy linked to the dollar. 

Eager to invest in such a controversial concept and wanting to have more social interactions to avoid more complications of mental health issues, he joined a society called "The Knights of Calypso" aiming to help noobs. He got fast popular socially and took over as their leader for a couple of years. He was also a huge in-game trader, known renownedly as fair and friendly.

He then joined Atlas Haven Radio, a player driven internet radio station in the game and helped it grow massively on the momentum they had created.
He produced and mixed most of the jingles, voice overs and background music and developed an immensely popular radio show every Friday evening called -= The Freaky Friday =-, luring in new people and got supporting DJs Daggert and Ruzlix to contribute with each there own 3 hour slot and a huge fan base, playing mostly electronic styles, like House, Techno and Hardcore, he was not shy of playing Hip Hop, Pop, Rock and even Punk as he sometimes took in requests from the crowd. 

The concept was simple, build a Friday night with good vibes, good music and draw in a crowd to party together in good spirit.

They often included in-game events, with random and root sponsors filling up a prize pool with real money and items for the game with significant and potential value. 
The biggest events easily raked in over a $1000 and forwarded without profit to various winners in various games, theme based events and marathon shows. Sometimes the winners decided to give it forward to the show and started saving up for a location in the game and eventually had it's own club in an apartment building (Omegaton?).

These events often had 50 to 200 people in turn out and listeners on the internet and were often co-created and co-sponsored.
He also created a few offbeat shows, like the Wicked Wednesday and Sane Sunday, but with a tendency to be overworked by covering for other DJs and his own marathon shows, momentum for these shows could not be sustained in the end. 
He also maintained the non-allocated time for the radio station with automated playlists and a plan to turn it into a jukebox, as one could request through the website what they wanted to hear. Not soon after he made his own version called The Juk-E-box and it was so popular at the time, it almost replaced the original scheme for the radio station. However, the jukebox concept always had issues and some people even exploited the concept to take control over the music, but the Juk-E-Box was still popular for a good while.

Sadly, as the radio station was getting bigger, they were facing a few issues internally and after the take over by another player, dynamics of the radio station and it's momentum got lost. Tired of meeting in the middle, the lust to make it worth while completely vanished for him. Also,the game changed a lot and the real life cash economy in the game completely crashed due to a few scandals and he could not bare to invest anything anymore after losing all of his profits from his trading and winnings.

After being tired of the Dutch government, shutting down a small courier service after a year of hassle with the startup not being profitably due to the complication of taxes and his sick pension, he decided to shake it all of, put his hat in the wind and by the seat of ones pants emigrate to Norway to settle with the love of his life, his Norwegian partner whom he met through the Entropia game, to try the state of Scandinavian wealth and philosophy of nature and even started a family.

Residing for the past 10 years on an island in the fjords, Tysnes in Vestland (Hordaland), near the main city Bergen, he operates from his "Bassment" and settles through the harsh, but also beautiful weather, enjoying a healthy life, providing for his family to the best of his abilities, trying to make a sustainable life and take his musical abilities more serious with a drive for fun and challenge.

In the last few years he has also been active with DJing locally for the kids and teens in the disco and some amazing outdoor locations.

He also performed as a warmup DJ for a House event on the beach of Holbæk, Denmark in 2019 for Open House Radio & Holbæk Radio together with DJ Daggert in a back to back with the most synchronized set he has ever played with anyone. The warmth of a loving and dedicated crew of these radio stations was a huge contributing factor to all of this.
