Fresh off the back of his acclaimed Underground Resistance EP, which found support by the likes of Danny Tenaglia, DJ Chus, DJ Vibe, Victor Calderone, and John Creamer to name but a few, Portugals Mike Kings returns to NYLOVE with Gotta Believe In Who I Am EP, a two-tracker that cements his place in the ever-shifting language of the underground. Kicking things off is Gotta Believe, a high-octane slice of New York-style vocal house thats tailor-made for peak-time action. Anchored by a tough, rolling tribal groove and laced with a bold, defiant vocal, the track channels the energy of early 2000s Twilo and Sound Factory floors. Its big, its brash, and it bleeds confidence. Mike Kings taps into that classic-meets-street tension and twists it into something modern. Flip over for Who I Am, a deeper 10 minute journey that simmers with low-end pressure and rhythmic swagger. This ones all about the after-hours; hypnotic drums, ghostly vocal chops, and a head-nodding pulse that creeps under the skin, especially when the piano and pads knock at your door. Its restrained, moody, and purpose-built for late-night sets when the lights are low and the connection is purely physical.

The journey of past years trying to figure out what it actually is to be in the place in which I am.

The album is a story of the peaks and valleys of the past two years, and the common theme that we have to let go of something along the way, even if I think it is *almost* perfect.

In a way too - it's about being able to move on. Finding that closure which isn't an end, but just part of where I go when I stop thinking so hard.

Hope you enjoy it, or at least get some motivation out of it.

After being wowed by Christian Smith&#8217;s superb remix of Carl Craig&#8217;s &#8216;At Les&#8217;, the legendary Underworld listed it as one of their tunes of 2010 thereby planting a seed in the veteran producers mind.

A mutual appreciation and the aforementioned events have resulted in Smiths biggest remix yet the reworking of Underworld&#8217;s seminal Dark &amp; Long.

Coming in two versions, both of which have won immense support from the band themselves, the Christian Smith remixes of Dark &amp; Long take the track in to new territories respectfully and skilfully.

The Tronic Treatment mix preserves the vibe of the original perfectly while adding a condensed but slow burning feeling of tension which explodes into the epic break we all know and love.

The Hypnotica dub version underpins Karl Hydes classic vocal refrain and the rich synths of the original with an ever-changing, guttural monster of a bassline that adds a whole load of understated aggression without ever taking over the wonderful melodies.

John Digweed: Taking on such a classic track is no easy task but Christian has stayed true to the original and brought the track bang up to date with enough subtle elements and tweaks to make this rock the dancefloors all over again. A festival classic for 2011
