AWOL - A Way Of Life was started in 1992 at The Paradise Club, Islington North London, by World Dance founders Jay & Chris. The parties were legendary for dj's playing 2-hour sets and some going up until midday on Sundays with Dj's like Randall, Dr S Gachet, Darren Jay, Fabio, Hype and also Micky Finn & Kenny Kenn, who have been involved from day 1.

Carl Cox Book Of Love Re-Mix

DJ Junk started djing in 1988 with Hip-Hop & Electro, mostly for his breakers to practice to and progressed onto hardcore by 1991, selling tapes known as "Junk Hardcore" through shops & outside raves. By 1992, he was desperate to make his own music and convinced Rodger from local rave outfit Tone Def to use his studio. The tracks were played by all of the big names, including on Radio by Slipmatt. Junk went on to release a total of 12 Hardcore/Jungle 12"s, as well as releasing some house/hard house tunes under the name of Blister Sisters. I've taken almost all of the tracks from the Junk releases 92-95, as well as some previously unreleased tracks. The unreleased tracks are currently available or soon to be available on Spandangle Selection....

This is one of those sets I've been meaning to put together for an eternity. Some may be thinking - why Betty Boop? Is it because The Great Gatsby is about to be released? Is it because The Dream City EP samples 'Maralyn Monroe' singing "I wanna be loved by you, shoo doobee doo" (I would of included this tune, but not $1,500+ on Discogs today), no. its called Betty Boop because I remember going to parties in 92, when it was Betty Boop doing the do, and it was awesome. So here's a tribute to one of the best times of my raving life - Njoy!

DJ Popeye. A.K.A Rikochet - Betty Boop 92 100% Vinyl Mix

Hi, i'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends!

 I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest dj's around at the time, doing a couple of sets in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelleys, Institute and Coast 2 Coast.

 After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!!

 Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought i'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know.....
