October 1990 saw the opening of one of the most iconic clubs in British history, The Eclipse in Coventry. Some of the biggest and best DJs from across the country and beyond graced the decks, week in week out, alongside some awesome local talent. Nookie is DJ & Producer Gavin Cheung from Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. Worked in the Red Records(Kiss FM affiliate) chain of shops in London, and stayed with the west end branch when Pete Waterman bought it and changed the name to Unity Records. Also owned the Daddy Armshouse Records label, record shop and studio. For these mixes, I have taken tracks from his many aliases as well as the groups he was involved in. When my friend Vali from @parallaxrecordings asked if I wanted to drop another Yaman Productions tribute mix for @peoples-station I was all over the idea! Last time around I did a tribute to the 1993 crop of mixes, pulling together tracks from that year's selection of mixtapes. This time around I've focused on the 1994 mix sets, taking four tracks from each of the five dj's that featured that year, and running through them sequentially, like this: Micky Finn -> Randall -> DJ Hype -> Peshay -> LTJ Bukem

A super fun selection, and one for all the true heads; this is a great crossover between hardcore and jungle, right as that whole transformation was happening. Enjoy!

Hi, i'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends!

 I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest dj's around at the time, doing a couple of sets in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelleys, Institute and Coast 2 Coast.

 After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!!

 Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought i'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know.....
