FLOATING TO KILL TIME - Sleepwalking

Here’s my extended, #chillout version of the #classical masterpiece #ClairDeLune from #ClaudeDebussy. I always found this #melody really #relaxing but I thought I would slow down the tempo significantly to see if I could create a new #soundscape out of something familiar. I overdubbed new #orchestra strings, drones and various #synthesiser sounds on top of the sampled MIDI #piano in Garageband to modernise the #sounddesign but also stay true to the romanticism of the Debussy composition. In total it ended up 21 minutes long.

Clair De Lune - Ambient Extended

This is a cover of the Claude Debussy classical piano suite but extended in length and reimagined in tone.

My extended ambient version of this track but stripped back to just reverb-drenched pianos multitracked and some drone / background noise. This sparse mix is meant for relaxation, meditation, focus etc.

The layered and provoking 3-track 'Conditions' EP winds through downtempo electronica and moody left-of-field techno sounds.

Having completed a Bachelor of Music (Composition) in 2015 as well as a Master of Music (Composition) in 2016, I am currently amidst the PhD program at The Con.

My current studies looks at links between the structures of (and in) music and visual art. More specifically, it explores how musical structures can be synthesised from the spatial aspects of images.

This comes to life through my three imagined tracks, ‘Materialise’, ‘Gestalt’ and the title track ‘Conditions’.

The 'Conditions' EP is out now on new Sydney label Eyegaze.
