The "Summer Soulstice" is a big festival of Soul/Funk/Disco/Soulful House and relative genres that takes place in London every year, and which purpose is to raise money to help fight cancer. For this 7th edition, I've created a special rework in memories of Andy Weekes, along with committee member Jester Groove and the rest of the "Summer Soulstice" Crew.

Story :
"In 2006 a dear friend of ours & one of Barnet’s favourite sons, died of cancer in the USA where he had lived for many years. To pay our tribute to a much missed friend & to keep his memory alive, the family & a group of his nearest & dearest, decided to hold a special annual get-together for local friends & an extended family of fellow soul enthusiasts @ a venue close to his heart…"

Sharon Brown - I Specialize In Love (PetkoTurner Edit)

Sharon Brown is an American singer-songwriter and musician who was born in Harlem, New York, US. She is the niece of songwriter Phil Medley, who co-wrote the song "Twist and Shout". She is also the daughter of drummer William Brown, who played with musicians such as The Isley Brothers and Cannonball Adderley.

Brown co-wrote and sang backup vocals on the 1976 release of CBS Rock Band "Blood Sweat & Tears" Mirror's Image " LP song titled "Love Looks Good On You" former lead vocalist for "Rare Earth" Jerry La Croix. In addition to starting her own music publishing company, Tshaym music publishing company BMI, she has also worked with acts such as Ronnie Dyson from the Broadway hit play Hair singing "Aquarius". Sharon Brown also acted as musical coordinator and songwriter worked alongside Todd Rundgren.

Patrice Rushen – Never Gonna Give You Up (Joey Negro Re-Grooved Mix)
I procured the multi for this killer dance cut from Patrice’s “Posh” album over 5 years ago and completed the remix a while back but we couldn’t clear it for RWL 2 due to the rights to her music being in limbo while it was sold by Warner Brothers to German indie !K7. This is one of the more radical remixes on the album. In all other cases I base the new version around the original music, sometimes adding extra riffs or replaying bass or guitar. I tried that approach on “Never…” but it just wasn’t happening. I went back to it a few times but I didn’t seem to be able to come up with anything particularly interesting so I decided to go a different direction and attempt to change the music next time I had Kaidi Tatham in the studio playing keys. He did a great job with a groove that is a little like her classic “Number One” and though the chords are different we managed to make most of the original strings and brass work with them.
