Sean McCabe - Something About You/Holding On ZR

The first single from Sean's debut album, which is due out on ZR in autumn. "Something About You" featuring Jennifer Wallace is a super catchy slice of jazzy soulful dance music that has already created quite a stir due to appearing in a couple of online mixes. We believe along with Zo! its one of the stand out tracks of 2014.

Sean McCabe "Something About You/Holding On" ZR

Offering a fine taster of what to expect from Sean McCabe’s debut album is ‘Tomorrow’s Another Day’ featuring the crystal clear, neo-soul vocals of Donae’o. The single itself is a sunny, feel-good anthem with swinging drums, soaring vocals and golden chords that warm through minds, bodies and souls.

As well as the original Extended Version there is a Sean McCabe dub which tones down the vocals and buries them amongst glowing pads, twinkling disco melodies and plenty of colourful chord action. The beats still swing invitingly, with extra warm dub undercurrents and frankly it’s the sort of record that is impossible not to love.

The album and ‘Tomorrow’s Another Day’ single are released on Monday 27th October

Having just released his 11th studio album, "Notes", Nathan Haines returns to Foliage Records with the freshest of fresh Fouk remixes of his single "Squire For Hire" featuring the unmistakeable spoken word of legendary Jazz vocalist, Marlena Shaw. 

"Squire For Hire" originally appeared on Nathan’s album of the same name, and now, in 2025, Fouk’s debut Foliage offering delivers the perfect tonic, complemented beautifully with newly recorded saxophone parts from Nathan.

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Nathan studied in New York in 1991, where he immersed himself in the worlds of jazz, hip-hop, and Latin music. These genres would become a huge part of his musical journey, showcased in his recordings & live performances.

In 1993, Gilles Peterson discovered Nathan playing in Auckland, and just a year later, his debut album "Shift Left" was released on Polygram Records in New Zealand. The album went on to win New Zealand Jazz Record of the Year, marking the start of a recording career that included notable albums such as "Soundtravels" & "Squire For Hire". It was during this time that Nathan established a formidable partnership with the late, legendary DJ/producer Phil Asher, a much-loved and deeply missed figure in the music world.

Fouk aka Daniel Leseman and Junktion (Hans Peeman) have been friends since childhood, and their individual successes as producers made their collaboration inevitable. While the outcome of such a partnership is never guaranteed, their unique house sound, infused with disco and funk, has proven to be irresistibly infectious.

Another standout track from the recent Sunburst Band album is the boogiefied house cut ‘Definition of Luv’ featuring Diane Charlemagne. 

Rising star Sean McCabe once again comes through with a brilliant remix adding his trademark deep and soulful house sound using Diane’s vocals to great effect. His Main mix is one for the soulful house heads while his Definition of Dub goes a bit deeper and dubby.

As always Joey Negro turns in his own extended album mix and Dubstrumental stretching out the original making the most of the 80's style synth parts.
