I don't want to look back

It was so easy to dream of us together,
So easy to see we could make a team,
I wanted you so badly, it was all I craved,
But what I wanted most will never be the same.

What I gave for you was not enough,
Thought you were my true life track,
But it was all in my mind,
Didn't want to see the truth, I was blind.

Remember those evenings of pure bliss,
Seeing you smile, thinking it was for me,
Wanted to see you like that every day,
And slowly forgot about me along the way.

Those laughter-filled afternoons,
Those miles of shared songs,
It was truly great,
To share my secrets with you, my soulmate.
	
But late I realized,
You were like the others in disguise,
Didn't heed the advice,
I was the one who couldn't roll the dice.

I don't want to look back, but I must let you go,
Stop dreaming of you and forge my own road,
Though I wish I could touch you once more,
I must accept our paths diverged to another shore.

I loved the idea of a future with you,
But now I see it was never true,
Hard it is to start feeling cold,
When the heart clings to what never did unfold.

It hurts to accept I have to depart,
But each must follow their own heart,
Was lost where fools often tread,
And slowly must find my own thread.

Felt what everyone desires,
An infinite love for a special someone,
Wanted you to be my real love,
Wanted us to be an example of love to the world above.

Thought you were the one among the rest,
Felt like there would never be another,
Would give anything not to suffer,
Seeing you with someone other.

But late I realized,
You were like the others in disguise,

Though my heart aches with regression,
I promise to stop loving you,
