This is not an album planned at the table but a spontaneous translation of a moment of life lived.

When Hugo told me about the project "The Boxx" of which he is art director, and I listened the sounds collection, it was love at first sight.

It was perfectly in line with the stylistic and musical direction that I was heading in (I already collaborated with jazz musicians for production and live performance) and the chance to sample from a jazz sounds collection so varied and complete for me was a great moment. I immediately thought that making an album with that available material would be best, but also the longest and most difficult thing to do, as it ended up taking almost a year of work.

During that period I was having a hard time because my grandmother, a person key in the course of my life, at the age 89 years old, died. She was a second mother to me. At the beginning, I was undecided on how to set this musical work, I really didn't have a very precise line to follow until a sign came to me and I was shown the way.

From then on, the music came forth. Its origin was mysterious, mystical and magical as were the moments of its creation. 

So I dedicate this album "My Grand Rose is an Angel" to you "Rose" as you have been for me an example of strength and style. Thank you for everything you have done for me and continue to do now, as an Angel.

Sounds.
It might be interesting for you to know something about the sounds on this record. 

In addition to the samples taken from the prestigious jazz musicians recorded by "The Boxx" project during the "Turin Fringe jazz festival" there are in some tracks like "Some day", "St. Isidor", samples of my grandmother Rose voice that I recorded (in recent years) when we met for lunch (she was a great cook) together and she told me about her life. 

In the tracks there are also many sounds that have a particular history, that I personally and deliberately recorded "lo-fi" with the phone, in special situations (the wind in the cable car at Cervinia 3000m above sea level, the creak of the elevator door of the house of my grandmother, song of a whole flock of birds hidden in a tree during a thunderstorm etc.). 

Finally, I'm not a canonical musician, but I have a trumpet that I use to make crazy samples. In tracks like "My Grand Rose", "St.isidor", "Rose and Joseph"and "Angel" there are consistent parts of my distorted trumpet played in an analog voice transformer.

I am an eclectic artist. I also work as a painter. The artwork of the cover was made by me painting on a black and white photo of my grandmother  "Grand Rose" when she was young.

Davem is an eclectic visionary artist. He comes from the world of skate/snowboarding culture. He wanted to become a professional freestyle snowboarder and in part, succeeded, but after a knee injury (now he does it just for passion), he had to take things slower. He tries to transform the tricks done on asphalt and snow in his art forms. He became a music producer through his enthusiasm and the constant research of new ways of communication, after venturing into painting and graphic art, preferring primitive and essential signs, which were sometimes inspired from a frail and tortuous inner exploration.

DAVEM grew up with hip hop, trip-hop, jazz, acid-jazz, and electronic music listening to every kind of music that is well made. He started to compose without any particular artistic inspiration, using just an impulse to create a sound with a strong personality. 

His way of working is very instinctive and dynamic. The creation of sounds sampled from the obscure situations of real life are important to his work. 

Davem is attracted and interested in collaborating with jazz instrumental musicians with an experimental open mind. For him music creation is a timeless magical moment, meditation. 

He attended the prestigious School of Saluzzo specialising as a technician of music for interactive digital arts. 

His ability to attract the attention led him to perform in some of the most important Italian festivals including Traffic Festival and Club to Club and Art Gallery. 

His eclecticism leads him to want complete sound with images. He wants to combine music and painting. His musical releases are complemented by its artworks printed on record covers.
