Belgian electronic pioneer, Pole Folder needs little introduction. A former protégée of the UK legend and Bedrock boss, John Digweed, Pole Folder broke onto the scene in 2001 and has since evolved into a multi-instrumentalist and live performer showcasing an exciting and unique brand of melodic house and techno. Signed to Global Underground, Renaissance and the aforementioned bedrock, Pole Folder exudes a timeless class in everything he makes.
Munich-based Aethon is the Deep-House/Ethereal-Techno alias of DJ/Producer and Modular Synth enthusiast Christian Schnall. Socialised and influenced by the alternative music of the ‘90s, he combines the melancholic teen spirit with the electronic sound of today.

The single features the vocals from highly sought-after vocalist Jinadu. With collaborations to date with Black Coffee, Hot Since 82, Eli Brown, Jamie Jones ad Dixon. He is also known as one half of The Beauty Room, a luscious, 70’s Americana inspired project that employed the skills of Grammy award winning engineer Peter Henderson (Supertramp) and string arranger Paul Buckmaster (David Bowie, Elton John) to great effect.
In original form, deep kicks and a rubbery low end form the bedrock on which sparse percussion and bright and airy synths work their magic. Jinadu’s ethereal vocals add to the air of mysticism which becomes a maelstrom of melancholy energy. A real meeting of minds with far-reaching creative potential. On remix duties, Fur Coat goes deep and musical creating a deeply hypnotic version, while Armonica slows the tempo and toughens the low-end grit with a haunting Reese bass. The release also features an ambient reimagination and shortened radio cut.

Ending the year on a high having witnessed a plethora of musical highlights, Meanwhile has been a shining beacon for progressive house throughout 2021. Now, Australian, Mike Rish, becomes the latest debutant to showcase his talents on GMJ & Matter’s blossoming imprint with the 3-track “Beyond” EP.

From his home on Australia’s south-eastern coast, Mike Rish has witnessed an impressive rise to notoriety, courtesy of a clutch of high-profile releases on an exclusive set of blue-chip labels. Not wanting to flood the progressive house scene with a swathe of formulaic dance music, the Melbourne resident’s “selective output” is based on a carefully thought-out commitment to “keep people engaged, but also wanting more”. Thus, Rish’s work for the likes of Colorize, Serendeep and Juicebox Music, has seen the Australian carve out a sizeable niche for himself, further enhanced by March 2021’s 12-track “Interlinked” album for UGENIUS Music.

Opening his Meanwhile account with the “Beyond” title track, a chunky beat and cavernous bass groove sit tightly against off-beat hats and snare. Filtering into sonic range, an elegant arpeggio provides glorious melodic interplay as white-noise washes and meandering pads pulse gently across the near 10-minute piece. Full of spine-tingling atmosphere, additional melodic phrasing is introduced at the breakdown before extending into the third movement with ease, combined with a raft of effects and masterful touches.

A bouncing bass groove immediately finds “Mindgame” oozing with hypnotic force and low-end menace. Sat perfectly in between deep kick and ticking hats, a flowing melodic line ripples across proceedings as it rises and falls with filtered dynamism. Twisted vocal cuts and acetylene-edged synth effects pitch with glissando range adding to the aural collage in a track full of dark and mesmerising beauty.

Closing the EP, “Here For You” is characterised by an intricate percussive arrangement that introduces a subtle melodic backdrop. Effects and textured pads span the stereo stage in modulated glory as a pulsating lead melody enters the fray in the second movement. Building steadily before revealing itself fully in the stripped back breakdown, the second half blossoms in commanding fashion with a pulsating confluence of rhythm and melody. The result is a track that illustrates Mike Rish’s unique talent and technique.

A musical triptych full of innovation and sonic narrative, Mike Rish has gone above and “Beyond” with a glittering display of production prowess.

Clubsonica Records continues a strong start to the year by welcoming JFR to the label for his debut EP. Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR hails from Mendoza and has been rising out of Argentina's progressive house underground since making his debut in 2017. 2021 proved to be a breakout year for JFR, as the Argentine continued his upward trajectory with standout releases for UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Dreamers and the fast-rising Nature Rec. World class DJ Hernan Cattaneo has also taken a liking to JFR's sound, featuring the Argentine's music in both his live and radio sets on multiple occasions. Now presenting his first EP project of 2022, JFR adds Clubsonica to his resume with 'Kira | Zulu', alongside remixes from djimboh and Deviu.

'Kira' gets the release underway and sits as one of JFR's most emotive productions to date. Warm beats and a buzzing groove set the foundation for a narrative of gentle stabs, rolling rhythms and detailed percussion. Pushing a poignant storyboard, kaleidoscopic arps rise across the first act, flowing through tasteful modulation while impassioned chord charges and symphonic overlays bring depth and colour leading into the main break. Executed to perfection, the interlude builds anticipation through striking chord stabs and siren-like wails, before melting down to a pulsating drop and smooth finale. The companion piece 'Zulu' finds JFR diversifying his portfolio further with a smooth melodic creation. Sleek and positive throughout, the eight-minute journey delights with its whimsical arps and balmy atmospheres. The narrative then shifts with colourful tones highlighting the main break; glowing and effervescent in equal measure, this newfound theme not only demonstrates what a melodic craftsman JFR has become but sets in motion a glowing musical finale.

The lone interpretation of 'Kira' is provided by djimboh. Hailing from the UK, djimboh first came to our attention in 2019 with releases via Freegrant Music, Immersed and Mango Alley. Quickly regarded for a sound that was both groovy and musical, the London resident continued to impress across the next two years, finding favour with a cross-section of the underground's premiere tastemakers, while adding top tier imprints such as Monstercat and TRYBESof to his resume. Now looking to kickstart his 2022 in style, djimboh debuts on Clubsonica with a gorgeous take on 'Kira'. Opting for a deeper approach, the UK artist makes intelligent use of the primary themes, while incorporating his own, uniquely distinctive quirks. Perhaps most impactful however is the main break, which clocks in at an expansive two-minute running time. Here, djimboh allows glowing tones to resonate against a warm, hazy backdrop, casting a spell over the listener, before breaking out into a tastefully restrained final movement.

The release concludes with Deviu providing the lone interpretation of 'Zulu'. Based in Pasto, the Colombian artist began his journey into electronic music production in 2014 under a variety of alias', before eventually settling on Deviu in 2020. Created as an outlet to explore the realms of deep, progressive and organic house, Deviu soon landed releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Dopamine White and Purified, where his fresh sound immediately found footing. Now continuing his journey with Clubsonica, the Colombian artist dials in an impressive rendition of 'Zulu'. Building elegantly, its glassy arps and fluttery motifs descend over a warm, voluptuous framework, eventually advancing the journey into an emotive break. Stripping right down, the interlude brings further brilliance to the spirit of the track through charming plucks and heartfelt bass swells, before giving way to a colourful crescendo of drums and effects, which initiate a soaring finale. A gorgeous remix from Deviu which rounds out a welcome Clubsonica debut for himself, djimboh and JFR.

This EP is lead by’Like A Satellite’, a rocket fuelled epic that will light up the night sky, leaving glorious, intoxicating chemtrails in its wake. ‘Hold you Back’ then follows effortlessly in its slipstream, all groove ’n swagger shooting from the hip, straight from the heart. Mirrorball Sleaze anyone? 

And if all that was not enough to renew your faith in humanity, we’re also treated to the perfect subplot in the form of Luke Brancaccio & Gai Barone’s intergalactic re-rub of ‘Hold You Back’. A pulsating, hypnotic throbber from outer space.

Lo, 'tis a pair of veritable lynchpins of the Selador family, two colossi of our catalogue, a pair of electronic music heavyweights.

Blimey o'riley, it's only Robert Babicz…remixed by James Harcourt…for your delight and delectation .

As we hurtle towards our tenth anniversary, a glance at our now somewhat bulky catalogue shows it to be peppered with sonic missives from the man like Babicz, every single one a winner. And when invited to select a track from said oeuvre to take his remix scissors to, James quickly zeroed in on 'Red', a best seller and also our first vinyl release from back in 2016.

The last 18 months have seen James Harcourt catapulted to the upper echelons of the electronic music league table, with A list DJs falling over themselves to play & praise his output. Needless to say, we are suitably chuffed that so many of his titanic tunes have borne the Selador stamp.

Here, James keeps the effervescent hook from the original front and centre, whilst enveloping it with moody synths and roof-raising crescendos throughout an insistent yet uplifting workout. Another nailed on, surefire winner, no doubt destined set for dance floor carnage.

Hailing from Brazilian clubbing mecca, Sao Paulo, B-Vision is in good company. Making his first steps back in 2006, his unique sound has found favor with everyone from Marco Carola to Mr C. Signed to a number of high profile labels including Selador, Yoshitoshi and Dear Deer. Following his amazing Showcrates release and collaboration with 'Never Say Never' founder, Dimitri Nakov, B-Vision delivers two astounding solo tracks. 

First up, 'Red Room' opens with tribal toms and low end grunt. Building organically airy pads and shimmering percussions develop into an emotive, warm sonic exploration. Reaching critical mass at the halfway point, the break serves more as a staging ground than a respite, and the track is the better for it. The second track, 'What Have You Got' ups the ante considerably. Dark tribal rhythms abound as sonics and percussion create a mystical hinterland in your mind's eye. One for the late floor
