“Yellow Press” is the second single from Ant Antic’s upcoming second album “Good Vids, Vile Times”. Expanding on the ideas set out in the previous single “Slow Down”, the vibe is now distinctively more melancholic and laid-back. Again, the song’s main theme is an outright serious one. In a brutally honest and relatable way, the Berlin-based artist observes how it feels to begin advertising his own life to other people.

“I’m a bag of hot air”, singer and producer Tobias Koett admits, quick to add “Feel like a millionaire”. In a monologue to a person he loves, he consistently stays in the role of an imposter, knowing that his vis-à-vis can’t be fooled by any show he puts on and sees the emptiness behind the facade. Emotionally numbed from an overabundance of junk information, he’s trying to catch the attention of the humans around him with the real-life equivalent of clickbait. Behind the meticulously crafted presentation, however, the relentless wheels of the attention economy have crushed everything there is, leaving nothing but emptiness and anxiety.

You are what you consume – in his latest single “Good News”, Berlin-based artist Ant Antic explores the emotional power of information and media in general. The neverending flood of information is one of the central themes of his upcoming second album “Good Vids, Vile Times”. What does constant bombardment of information do to us? What’s lost along the way? In a brutally honest and relatable way, singer and producer Tobias Koett ponders the answers to these questions.

As a child of the first globally connected generation, Tobias observes how geographical boundaries are disintegrating and people consider humanity as one, while at the same time they’re struggling to come to terms with a reality overflowing with possibilities – slowly turning into superficial nihilists. In clickbait-esque phrases suitable for dwindling attention spans, Ant Antic explores how obsessed and at the same time phlegmatic we are in the way we deal with information and news. Like a mantra, the chorus circles again and again around two opposites: a bombardment – but one of good news.

The world comes to a halt, and everything stands still. On Toby Whyle’s debut single “No One Moves” he approaches a phenomenon artists are often somewhat hesitant to address: writer’s block. He ponders the numbing feeling of helplessness when ideas just wouldn’t come to him for weeks. The only way out of his dilemma was to explore the nature of inspiration itself. What does it mean to be inspired? To have ideas – or to lack them?

Then suddenly, as the sky swiftly clears up, inspiration begins to flow. Something happens, something so hard to put into words yet so easy to be entranced by. When in a brief moment of equilibrium, worries and euphoria seem to be perfectly balanced. You can almost feel the air crackling and sizzling with energy. An impulse that sets everything in motion – and it flows.
