John David Peters is a New Mexico singer/songwriter in the mold of Gordon Lightfoot, one of David's major influences.
David is an award-winning songwriter. His song “Don’t Take Me for a Hero” won “Best Song” at the 2019 New Mexico Music Awards. He, along with Ron Crowder and Steven Nery, won the 2024 Norman Petty Producer's Award for his album "In the Living." His songs have been finalists in several other contests as well.
His Songs cover a wide range of emotions and topics from the sadness of losing love and friendship to humor about the weather. He has songs about war, teaching, and the environment.  His songs appeal to all ages.
David’s songwriting style is primarily folk/Americana, but he mixes in some blues, pop, and country. In addition to Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan,  and Lennon/McCartney are other influences.
