Quite minimal, just two small virtual modular patches and a couple of effect plugins. Opens with some ambience from Voltage Modular plus a small addition of Valhalla Supermassive. Then the paperweights, made in VCV Rack and distorted by Wasted Space from Softube and Richter from Klevgrand. As usual recorded in a single live take, a few physical controls were mapped and used but the patches for this more or less played themselves.


Paperweights - (naviarhaiku - 587)

The source is the Burns song 'Ye Banks and Braes', which I selected more or less at random from an old songbook. I arranged the notes as instructed and played the resulting sequence on a recorder. The track has two parts and in the first I duplicated the recording several times, made various alterations to the pitch and created a round or canon,  adding a degree of delay and reverb. The second part is the result of playing the notes in a totally random order, again with some additional delay and reverb.

the original version was in a much lower register, but it immediately got flagged as containing something else because soundcloud's copyright algorithm is fucking stellar. the track contains NO samples, and outside of a certain sound in the track i got 'busted for using' they aren't the same, essentially it's like getting a copyright strike simply for using an instrument or effect someone else used. i've disputed the claim but i'm not hopeful.

love the dark, sad, experimental and hazy side of things, hypnotic loops and damaged sounds. massive horror geek. not without a sense of humour. partner in crime with Shelley and Loren.

if you're questioning why or how i'm able to upload on a frequent basis, simply put - i have A LOT of time on my hands at this point in my existence, a wealth of music/sounds to draw upon, and a decent collection of software to make things (e.g. both the synth and fx arturia vst collections). i'm not just auto-generating ai pieces ad nauseum, at the same time i have nothing against using ai in the creative process, but not as an outright replacement for creation. i really think the witch hunt over it all is a bit ridiculous, fueled by the greed pig corporate media companies mostly. 

one thing i've learned about making at least a little bit of money from streaming my music beyond measley penny scraps, i have to upload frequently and i've been experimenting with reuploading/reposting my tracks for better play counts (for now), if even it only results in cutting costs.
