David Cortopassi started performing professionally at age 5. His first band, Soul Survivors played together for a couple of years doing 60s cover songs. The band’s name changed and Century Records released a 45 under the new name This Side Up with the songs Lose Yourself backed by Turn Your Head. This Side Up soon became THE ELASTIK BAND who released one of the most notorious records ever titled “SPAZZ” (banned in Australia, now a cult favorite sought by collectors worldwide and noted as being “one of the most tasteless records ever made”). Since then, SPAZZ has become a popular cult favorite of garage band enthusiasts worldwide - leading to its re-release in 1998 by Rhino Records on their box set “Nuggets Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968”. Universal Records released several 45s, and eventually changed the band’s name to Dangerfield. Over the course of 2 years, the band recorded 2 full LPs worth of music… most of which was never released at the time. Cortopassi went on to form a new seven-piece, rock/fusion band called MAX… one of the most unique gatherings of musicians best know by the sought-after classic vinyl collector’s album titled “RODAN”. His bands have performed on the same stage with the Grateful Dead, the Doobie Brothers, Santana, Elvin Bishop, Bill Medley, and Tower of Power. Cortopassi started his own independent label (Digital Cellars) that has released 4 CDs (Pharaoh of Mars, The Silicon Jungle, Embrace Destiny, and The Elastik Band).
