David Clifford (DC) is a British musician and lyricist best known as the front man and drummer of progressive rock band Red Jasper, whose albums on Angel Air and Cherry Red Records established a loyal cult following. As lyricist and vocalist, DC’s work is steeped in narrative and drama, drawing on folklore, history, and the human condition. He also brings his energy as a drummer with Davey Dodds & Friends, keeping the heartbeat of their folk-rock sound alive on stage.

Beyond his own bands, David has collaborated widely. Creating with Clive Nolan,  Caamora, he helped bring progressive rock into the theatrical world, contributing to acclaimed rock operas including “She” and “Alchemy”, both celebrated for their fusion of symphonic prog, storytelling, and stage spectacle.

His latest work is Wicca, a concept album co-written with Tony Heath. Rooted in Cornish landscape and myth, Wicca draws inspiration from The Wicker Man while creating an original narrative. Across ten tracks, multiple voices, the questioning protagonist David Derecq, the guiding Seeker, a druidic High Priest, and members of a Wiccan tribe, blur the line between the living and the spirit world. Atmospheric, dramatic, and deeply human, it leaves the listener uncertain whether the hero’s fate is death, transformation, or transcendence.

From the stage to the studio, David Clifford continues to explore music as theatre: powerful songs, vivid characters, and stories that linger long after the final note.
