'The First Flower' is a musical interpretation of the opening words of Eckhart Tolle's book 'A New Earth':

“Earth, 114 million years ago, one morning just after sunrise: The first flower ever to appear on the planet opens up to receive the rays of the sun. Prior to this momentous event that heralds an evolutionary transformation in the life of plants, the planet had already been covered in vegetation for millions of years. The first flower probably did not survive for long, and flowers must have remained rare and isolated phenomena, since conditions were most likely not yet favorable for a widespread flowering to occur. One day, however, a critical threshold was reached, and suddenly there would have been an explosion of color and scent all over the planet—if a perceiving consciousness had been there to witness it.

Much later, those delicate and fragrant beings we call flowers would come to play an essential part in the evolution of consciousness of another species. Humans would increasingly be drawn to and fascinated by them. As the consciousness of human beings developed, flowers were most likely the first thing they came to value that had no utilitarian purpose for them, that is to say, was not linked in some way to survival. They provided inspiration to countless artists, poets, and mystics. Jesus tells us to contemplate the flowers and learn from them how to live. The Buddha is said to have given a “silent sermon” once during which he held up a flower and gazed at it. After a while, one of those present, a monk called Mahakasyapa, began to smile. He is said to have been the only one who had understood the sermon. According to legend, that smile (that is to say, realization) was handed down by twenty-eight successive masters and much later became the origin of Zen."

Late Again

Satin Sheets was a popular country hit song written by John Volinkaty and first recorded by Bill Anderson and Jan Howard on their March 1972 duet album, Bill & Jan or (Jan & Bill). It was then famously covered by American country music artist Jeanne Pruett in February 1973 as the first single and title track from her album of the same name. The song was Pruett's only Number One country hit, as well as her only chart entry on the Billboard Hot 100.
Nat & I were asked by Jerry Madden if we would collaborate on this classic cover and we were all too happy to do so. Jerry shows his tasty guitar playing throughout and we thank him for giving us the opportunity to join him here.

Renowned and well respected Alabama Lyricist Tony Harris had some lyrics that needed music and vocals , I obviously jumped at the chance and got to work on it ! We've done another one since which is out on the 8th of April . Me , Gaz and Greg have a belter out on the 1st and Charlotte and I have 2 great numbers waiting in the wings . In the meantime me and Xavier Jaari have a remixed anthem out on the 20th of March , you'll hopefully love it ! I hope you love this one by me and Tony . Thanks for all the support !

Though I have never visited Ireland, Irish blood runs through my veins and I always seem to feel a surge of it this time of year.  Kerry County is considered by many one of the most beautiful places on Earth; the openness of crystal-blue sky reflected in the water, and an eternal green seen from horizon to horizon.  And if one is lucky, a glimpse of the Bog Pony might be caught.

This is a follow-up posting of a wonderful collaboration Dan-T had invited Debra and I to contribute to.  Dan had posted it well over a year ago as a backing track to a dramatic French Fantasy production.  With his kind permission after the delay of a year, I wanted to post this as a celebration of a different kind of drama--life awakening from a long winter sleep. Dan's synths are sweeping and epic, Debbie's playing is measured and elegant like the words in a fine poem.  The Requinto guitar has a sweet voice sounding a bit like a Celtic harp to round out the production. "In Walt Disney's classic animated film Dumbo, about the little elephant who learns to spread his giant ears and fly, there is a pivotal scene in which a dubious—indeed terrified—Dumbo is being cajoled by his friends, the crows, to leap offa cliff into the air, proving to himself that he can fly. One of the crows has a bright idea. When Dumbo isn't looking he plucks a tail feather from one of his kind and then ceremonially hands it to Dumbo, announcing that it is a magic feather: So long as Dumbo clutches it in his trunk, he can fly! The scene is presented with masterful economy. No explanation is provided, since even small children get the point without being told: The feather isn't really magic; it's a prosthetic device, a belief-crutch of sorts that will get Dumbo off the ground by the power of positive thinking. Now imagine a variation on that scene. Imagine that one of the other crows, a 
village skeptic who is smart enough to see what trick is being played but not smart enough to see its virtue, starts trying to inform Dumbo of the truth as he perches on the cliff edge, feather held tightly. "Stop that crow!" the children would shriek. Stifle that smarty-pants, quick, before he ruins it for Dumbo!
