beautiful. I love it when the chords that my ear would actually expect don't come and instead something much more exciting sounds that i actually didn't expect.  It's a little like painting. I often sit down with my guitar in front of the circle of fifths and look for the point that actually seems the least likely. Like the selection of the color, which actually does not fit into the concept but complementary perfectly hits. Beautiful.

This tune came out of a wonderful convergence (happy accident); my collaboration with @devin-locke on "Theme and Variations" and a renewed interest in the painting of Bob Ross. One of the variations I became so taken with, I wanted to develop it into a full track using the original steel string voice of the collaboration then adding nylon string to enlarge the melody line.  "Happy Accidents" was a favorite saying of Bob Ross as he would go about his painting on Public Television.  I saw how it applied to me in how I have composed guitar music over the years;  the unexpected note or chord I first thought a mistake became a turning point for a phrase or melody line.  Some would call it "serendipity", for Bob Ross it was a "happy accident".  If you listen closely toward the beginning, you can hear my granddaughter Lily in the background, a bit of a cameo and very much a happy accident:)

I Can't Cry (I Don't Know Why)

Bleaklow: a windswept gritstone plateau in the Dark Peak area of Derbyshire. In amongst the stark features of this wilderness are peat bogs, heather moorland, the sad site of a B29 plane wreck and The Wain Stones. Two of these boulders form the amazing 'Kissing Stones' - an inspiring sight for those who venture up there.

Another bizarro trot around the paddock with the inimitable The Phaige and Dairv W, my astral Neighbours. Gary sent over his backing before Santa loaded up the sleigh and D and I worked independently at first then bounced some ideas around. Gary meanwhile worked his magic with layer upon layer of synth and some really cool bass. D soars and flies magnificently. 
A real pleasure to work with these gents..great talent and always high quality. Modern, proggy music that I hope you enjoy
