Today is Sunday 8/27/23. Almost a year passed by in this dark tunnel. Ive progressed a lot though, not seeing the light yet, but I can confidently talk ab it now. I believe the days are getting or will be getting a lot better. I have hope, we must hope. Without hope, what else we can swing to? The nightmares are still going on, but I want to believe that all the darkness is being cleared out. The first playlist that I started when the trial started, finally ended and got to 500. The start of this new playlist with my winning picture is a hope, is a sign to the light, to the better day.

It has been my honor to share with my dear friend and colleague Seagull these convictions in our songwriting with so many messages exchanged between us while making the music we have this year.  There remained three songs which had not been released until now which are mini-portraits of these beautiful virtues and will be elaborated on with each track note.
We dedicate this greeting to all our good friends and musical collaboration partners, but especially to Dan, Ed & Peter as a small thank you, for your friendship and generosity. And of course to all of you, our listeners and music lovers out there in the world.

revisiting an old favourite with new & improved sound quality, mixing and arrangement. This is basically a repeating chorus, which is pretty catchy, but I’d love to eventually compose the rest of this tune, and have it played by jazz musicians with live instruments one day. Seems to be an endless repeated theme for me ~ running away to the countryside, and in recent years this has been the Australian wilderness, from the deep south to the far north.

Dedicated to, and featuring Gary Reeves (aka Mountain Songs) on drums and cymbals (remixed) at the start. Banjo, lap slide guitar (acting as bass), beats and vox by myself. This song is for Gary, who has been a wonderful musical compadre for many of us around the world, via this  Soundcloud Village.

Respect and acknowledgement to the Traditional Owners of the lands, waters and skies in this video, both in Australia and New Zealand. Particular thanks to the Yolgnu people of Gapuwiyak who made me feel so welcome during my short visit to Arnhem Land last year.

Break Your Silence

To lose hope is to feel the heart go numb, to no longer care about anyone, and even less, about oneself.  Faith and hope are so closely allied as to be at times indistinguishable, but it is faith that comes first giving birth to hope and nurturing it.  Christmas is also a call to hope springing from a faith that dares to believe the impossible.

Sometimes faith is best looked at like a photographic negative; what does our heart feel when faith is lost? It is so closely allied with hope that the two are hard to distinguish when either or both are lost; but tears are often the result. For many this Christmas, a troubled world only scratches the surface of the personal trouble felt from having lost faith in a loved one, themselves, and perhaps even God.  Christmas is a call to faith, to reach out beyond oneself in the hope that there is One who can give faith, or restore faith that has been lost.  "Hope" is what we consider next...

"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, love never fails".  St. Paul continues his treatise on love to the Corinthian church--but is it true?  God help us if it is not. It is the central message of Christmas; that He becomes one of us to show us what love is in an ultimate way.  
And we celebrate glimpses; to feel the heartbeat of a loved one, to look deep into the eyes of the beloved and glimpse the soul, to hold the hand of young and old, to give aid to the helpless, hope to the hopeless, to forgive with the hope of healing.  Is it possible that acting in faith and hope is love in action?  I think so, I pray so. Merry Christmas and may you be blessed by feeling the pulse of those around you:)

Whipped up a variation of a previously created backing track that I had arranged using BIAB, and then added a contemporaneous lead while listening and playing along on my Fender Mustang. Mixed it all up and named it 'Light It Up'. Hope it's enjoyed. We all can use a little Light about now.
