When I wrote this song, I had a female voice mind. I sent it to Nat Daniels and asked her if she was interested in singing it.  Long story short, both Nat and Craig got their creative juices flowing and came up with this beautiful rendition of the song. Wow!

Doing this with https://soundcloud.com/florian-luethi-59518579 really managed to create very uncomfy feelings in the first place..... I am very afar from the point where i would call myself a Keyboardplayer or a "Keyboardist", but that is something i really want to achieve some day. Then there is this Swiss Army Knive of a man, playing in a Band, playing in a Bigband, reinventing old classics, playing the Keys like a young god - how can you keep up with someone like him.

He sent me the first stem back then , i think in April 2021... and said that he want it to be our thing. There was a  toiletpaperroll kind of instructions which came along with it and music sheets which i really cannot read. Thank you, goddamn! AHahahah.  It is also slow, has various changes in timing and there is also a short variation in a part with a bpm change. 

Adding this into my DAW and setting it up was one thing, finding the right key to jam along with it and trying to go JAZZ was a complete different take. Holy SH*T. 

I prelistened alot this two milestone versions out there:
Thelonious Monk Quartet - 'Round Midnight -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yg7aZpIXRI and
Miles Davis Quintet - 'Round Midnight - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIgLt7LAZF0, and while doing so, i felt terrible feeble and developed some slight depression torwards the thing which Mr. Lüthi sent me. I was flatterned, that he thought i can keep up with something like that, but also frightened AF.

So i did listen to his version and i simply was not able to do it. I gladly was able to work on any music, but going 42 BPM, sorry, i fucking started going idle ... so slooooooooooow!!! (Remember : Dawn of Damn is 160 bpm - so this track here is a bout 4 times slower). After many months i finally set everything up and for another few months tried to play something to it - progress about to be aligned with those BPM hahah....

Late but nevertheless, the inspiration finally came and while i tried to line up with this jazzy thing, Florian wanted the FY - Mojo and Crazyness, so he completely changed the whole base for the song and bam bam bam - boomarang!! We both hope that you enjoy this new version of a classic which has been re-issued about 2000 times! We are pretty confident, that this version is quite different... :)

Thank you Florian for the possibility to do this with you and all your patience, your super cool uplifting attitude and positive and constructive critic! Also pretty happy, that he allowed me to collaborate with his unique drawing style. I really tried to adapt and went full drawing mode this time! This was so much fun!

Quietude in the midst of chaos, confusion, uncertainty, and restlessness; Seagull captures an Eden-like vision of tranquility and reflection.  It also came with a surprise he kept securely under his hat; I would be joined in the collaboration with him by two of my favorite SC artists, Ed Cunningham and Dan-t, masters of their genre. I didn't know until he unveiled the finished product.  My approach turned out to be "less is more" so I show up to the party fashionably late at just past the 2:00 mark, but what a lovely party...and vision.  I hope you think so too. Making Words Rhyme - Original Collab by Tony Harris & Glenny G's "One Man Band"

Realizing

Fans of my ongoing ramblings must be already familiar with music by Thomas Meluch who records under the alias Benoît Pioulard. And if for some reason you're not, you can begin with his albums on Kranky, starting back in 2006 and working your way up to the present, to follow a trajectory of this composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and photographer. Be sure to also round your journey with this studio feature, in which I profiled Tom back in 2015. He's done a few collaborations, including one with Rafael Anton Irisarri under the Orcas project name. For this gorgeous release on the one and only A Strangely Isolated Place we find Meluch alongside his long-time friend and collaborator, Luke Entelis, as Viul (pronounced 'vell' which rhymes with 'bell'), a New York-based ambient composer who has appeared on Meluch's own imprint, Disques d'Honoré, reserved mostly for his own self-released works, and Past Inside the Present, with Outside The Dream World in 2019. Their upcoming collaborative album is named after a Czech word for "the end" (you know, those final pronounced striking letters, that often roll up when the film reached its peak), capturing the uncertainty of the world amidst the pandemic. And while the pieces originally began as an exchange of sketches and short lo-fi loops, the music that followed is truly engaging. On my favourite track on the album, which I am honoured to premiere for you today, we find the duo painting with wide brush strokes in pastel colours, deep-textured warmth, and hazy memories. And although this piece at first appears to be a repeating, stretched, and saturated tape loop, the more you listen to its slow decay, the more it makes you feel alive.

"The variation in minutia, samples and instrumentation throughout the album cannot be understated amongst its hazy aesthetic and ominous poignancy. It’s one thing to notice the details, but another to unstick the melodies from the closing credits of a dystopian city’s downfall, from the forefront of your mind."

The pain that comes with getting in touch with our vulnerabilities opens the doors to healing through confrontation. This lays the foundation for a more honest relationship with our past, present and future."

Colombian producer Aeondelit is fascinated by the connection between digital technologies and human beings. Captured through the use of ambient soundscapes, droning, cinematic soundscapes and experimental rhythms, he also crafts music that's influenced by the rocky landscapes of his hometown Manizales. His second LP Vestigios, which is released via Berlin art platform and label Unguarded, ruminates on themes of transformation, heritage, vulnerability and healing - as Aeondelit puts it, it's 'the bridge between the temporal and the eternal'.

What began as a prosaic comment evolved into an enriching collaboration.  Our friend and Soundcloud poet laurate Peter joins us on a fishing voyage.  Seagull, not content to do a simple voice over, remixes the track and places us on a fishing boat, the sea a bit rough, the gulls impatient for part of the catch, and Peter not just reading but dynamically narrating what he is experiencing on the deck of the ship.  What an honor to work with these artists enlarging on our previous collaboration. With this visionary and epic trilogy, we explore the human condition and the choices we must make that will determine our destiny as a race.  It is a longer work but a rewarding listen if taken as a whole, but can still be appreciated in smaller bites if time doesn't allow a nearly 16 minute commitment.
