Was used instead for a one year birthday tribute CD for a little girl named Hera. I believe this is the only digital copy (other than those that are offered as bootleg mp3's on sites written in a language I don't understand).

Shining Vril (John Murphy) - Sandra Lindsey (David E. Williams cover)

Today, a new cassette deck in the house leads me down a road of rediscovery and casual archiving of tapes that have sat on shelves for decades.  Some of them are filled with the singy songs you might expect (all from BEFORE Pseudo Erotica), but here's an example of one of my 100%NONVOCAL electronic improv recordings from probably around 1985.   Ensoniq Mirage and Korg Poly 61, recorded on a Yamaha 4-track cassette recorder.  Meanwhile, photo is by Dave Kessler and I assume it's actually closer to high school days (1982 or so?).  And, in the photo, I'm playing an ancient Casio.

Metaphysical Tortures In The Medicine Bag (circa 1985)

This track was recorded in 2004 for a charity CD of 7 Fishtown artists all covering the same song, which was “You Can’t Get to Heaven on the Frankford El” (originally released by a Philly band called The American Dream—produced by Todd Rundgren, allegedly!! -- in the 1970’s)

The CD was released to benefit POSITIVESPACE, a local artist co-op that also dabbled in the maintenance of empty lots.  Since then, of course, the artists have mostly come and gone, the empty lots (we called them “green spaces,” I think) replaced by sorry townhomes in the East Berlin DDR style.   You know how these things go.  

Nowadays, the Frankford El commuter train takes some of Philly’s fanciest folk to some of Philly’s best new eateries-- mostly gastropubs via the Girard and Berks stops, but the variety grows almost hourly.  I still live up here and minutes ago, I finished a plate of “Korean Chicken” that Douglas  MacArthur would kill for, and I usually treat myself to this ethnic-staple-cum-hipster-treat at least once a week.  “Take out only,” naturlich!

A little past Fishtown, of course, there is still danger to be had, or so the cliché would suggest, with the city’s best heroin and cheapest prostitutes.  But maybe that’s a myth.  What can one man do, after all?  And how much is he responsible for knowing?

Some words from Prince's "When Doves Cry," sung to the melody of my own song "Murder the World with Me."  I used to "mash up" these two songs all the time at live gigs in the 90's.

Arranged here for Yamaha MX61, Korg microKORG and solo vocal, specifically  for a live performance in Philadelphia on June 10, 2016. 

The recording was completed in the same month at home in the same city.  Subject to voluntary or involuntary removal from SoundCloud at any time for obvious reasons.

I will say this about Lake's lyric here.  "The Christmas we get we deserve" can be quite stinging when you're going through some bad ones, as I did from about 2005-2007.

Recorded at home by me in 2009, utilizing multi tracked vocals, Korg Triton, and (for some inexplicable reason) sounds of World War II weaponry (with narration) played off a cassette tape that I purchased at the British Imperial War Museum.

Performed live, at least once in memory, with vocals by David Talento, Jane Elizabeth and me, at the former "M Room" in Fishtown (early 2010's?)

In retrospect, I was a bit harsh in singing that part toward the end:

My assessment has mellowed considerably.  

But like the Monkees themselves, we cannot ever fully escape our pasts.

For several years, my 2008 Nirvana cover resided on YouTube with fun oldtimey film footage, but now it's suddenly gone.  So here you are... "for archival purposes only."
This track originally appeared on "Montage Of Heck: A Sinister Tribute To Nirvana," which was  DIY released simultaneously on literally a dozen cassette and CD labels.  It was designed to be a DIY Nirvana tribute compilation of metal and other "extreme genres."  So... "Why not?"  I said.  
 I think it is the first recording I made after the death of Jennifer Bates.  It is probably the only time in my life that I will share credits with a band called "Cuntworm," but who knows? In 2013, Patrick Leagas' Sixth Comm joined the Monkees, Prince, the Ramones, and Nirvana as "artists covered in recordings by David E. Williams".

This tribute compilation, GADERUNG, was released by Italy's Radio Body Music, but I went looking for it tonight (May 31, 2019) because I thought it would be a fun post for the American Neofolk facebook page.  All I could find was the discogs listing below (no audio files from any of us)... so here you are!
