**Production Notes**

This assignment was a tough one. Earth Day, that can be all new age and cliche, with flowers and rivers and bees and chiffon dresses… you get the idea. But I’m worried about the state our planet is in, and particularly that no-one takes responsibility to lead us to a much needed collective change. 

Naturally, Greta Thunberg came to mind. 

I ripped the audio from her speech at the UN in 2019, where a clearly angry Greta vented her frustrations. When I added a noisy vocoder to give her voice more punch, and the result became somewhat spooky, and reminded me of the legend of Cassandra: A tragic figure of the Greek mythology that was cursed by Apollo to ensure that nobody would believe her warnings.

As you know, you can package everything in a four-on-the-floor track, and so I took the liberty of creating a dance track from the material. Normally I’d have treated Greta’s speech to make it fit on the grid, but I didn’t want to break her natural flow… and that became quite an issue to build all the block around it. All in all, I spent four days with the assignment, and I’m still not totally convinced about the result.

**Disquiet Junto Project 0486: Earths Days**

The Assignment: Celebrate Earth Day on or for another planet.

Step 1: Each Disquiet Junto project begins on a Thursday. This Thursday happens to be Earth Day. Reflect on the concept of Earth Day, and how it might map beyond our big blue marble.

Step 2: Record a piece of music or sound celebrating Earth Day for or as if on another planet.
