The Welcome Party are a four-piece alternative rock band, based in Newcastle. 

Pursuing their love of dark, melancholic alt-rock, The Welcome Party formed in late 2014, with the current lineup consisting of Jamie Thomas (Vocals/Guitars), Josh Sercombe (Guitars), Scott Bowman (Bass) and Lee Clifford (Drums).

The band's first effort came in the form of self-released single 'Dead Love' in the summer of 2015. The track, which featured on both local radio and BBC Introducing, was described as 'statement of intent' and likened to alt-rock heavy weights such as Interpol, The Walkmen and The National. 

The Welcome Party are currently preparing the release of 'Always Winter', their debut EP, which is due in June 2016. The five-track release has been in the works since November, and boasts both the aggression and intensity of the band's live show, along with their love of well-structured and dynamic pop music. 

With only one release and a handful of selected shows, 2015 proved The Welcome Party to be one of the most popular new acts on the Newcastle indie scene. The band have achieved regular radio play (BBC Introducing/Spark FM) and local press (NARC./The Chronicle), supported both national and international touring acts such as The Deer Hunter, Chasity Belt and The Travis Waltons, and shared stages with like-minded local acts such as Canyons, Cape Cub, Hazels and A Festival, A Parade.

2016 will be bigger.
