David Mayer is back with a bang. You might remember his last productions as downright atmospheric and in touch with one or another nerdy fixation on detail, well, those new cuts point to the place where elation is boiled up, more than anything he did before. The A1, named “Moment” is still keeping it a bit low key. If youʼd actually translate this piece of music into a moment, itʼd look like the one Ridley Scott presented us in “American Gangster”. With Frank Lucas being placed in some wooden hut in the outback of the Golden Triangle, dealing the deal of his life, sharply calculating within a mind clouding climate. With fantasy, youʼll hear the jungleʼs deepness and the vibrant heat beside the kickdrum. It is a percussive, hypnotic floor-monument, surely obsessed with detail, but above all keeping the balance between deep- and straightness.
But still, it is also a build-up for those things happening on B1. Safe to say, “Word Is Bond” is Mayers least compromising peaktime arrangement to date. Youʼll find a hard punching kickdrum, some sound-turned chrome-finish, type ʻtechno classicʼ, two compelling breaks and some full on melodic catchiness via keyboard-hook. It is the enhancement of everything you used to praise when hearing his work. And when the vocalsample claims a delivery of the “real shit”, the constitution of this pumping monster wonʼt fail to honour this pledge at any moment.

Previously spotted remixing the bossmen Catz ‘n Dogz’ 2016 single ‘Nobody Cares’ on the label, Psychemagik’s ‘Rattlesnake’ is the duo’s debut Pets single and it lives up to its deadly name. Sliding into the dance with all the stealth and funk venom its name suggests; the bite comes midway as the fatal secondary bassline kicks in with a Cobra Kai finishing move that will leave your dancefloor out for the count. It’s loaded with two equally lethal remixes as the label welcome two more debuts from pit vipers old and new; Magda bites hard with a poisonous futuristic funk roll-out while Vyvyan continues their anonymous attack with a fantastic cosmic twist and a build up that rattles like a whole army of Crotalus.

Collaborating once again on Kittball, Juliet Sikora and Flo Mrzdk drop summertime single ‘Fuck, Marry, Kill’ featuring a murkier remix from Belgian producer Maxim Lany.
Straight off the back of remixing Claptone, Kittball co-owner Juliet Sikora’s is always one to bring the energy and her high charged productions have gained serious traction in her homeland Germany and beyond, including releasing or remixing for labels like Relief, Cajual and Mother Recordings. Joining her in the studio once again following last year’s ‘The Get Down’ and a remix of Tube & Berger’s ‘Dust Feel’, Kittball and Be An Ape regular Flo Mrzdk adds to the already expected momentum.
Each track has a dance floor driven focus with upbeat tempos and a choice brazen vocal sample. ‘Fuck, Marry, Kill’ itself is undoubtedly a blowout summer track - pad driven, packed with hi hats with hoppy bass weaving through. Meanwhile, on remix duties We Play House producer Maxim Lany offers a darker vibe - weighing in with a heavier driving bass but maintaining the same galvanising atmosphere with the heady vocal.
