During my teenage years, I composed quite diligently, creating many themes and tracks for my own enjoyment on my old Yamaha keyboard. However, that ended abruptly when I reached my twenties. I bought a new keyboard (the old one had broken down — a very sad moment), more advanced and expensive, but somehow I wasn’t able to do much with it, almost as if the magic was lost. That hiatus lasted a decade.
It was not a wasted decade, though, because I plunged deeply into listening to 18th- and 19th-century classical music, refining my taste and shaping my own musical identity.
The main theme of this Rondo somehow heralded a new era of composing. During a boring meeting with some association committee 7-8 years ago, my mind drifted far away, and the theme just appeared out of nowhere, almost completely fleshed out.
It was then that I became certain it was time to return to music.  Last month I've finally felt obliged to do a proper honour to the melody and to build a piece around it.

I compose mainly for the piano, but there is also some chamber music.  Some of my work is baroque, some classical, but I’m also interested in more modern styles, and some of my pieces are in Modes of Limited Transposition. 

Note that the files I have posted on Soundcloud are computer generated; it is not me playing the piano!  This has the advantage that they are note perfect, and the files are easy to produce. But they would sound much better on a real piano. There are some examples on my website www.musicforinsomniacs.com
