The song written in and about Berlin. Trying to catch a part of the same feeling. Waving. Guitars flying. Waves in the sea.

"Tea with Debussy & Pärt in Casablanca" is a musical dream that bloomed during my vacation in Havana, Cuba. Inspired by classical masterpieces from Arvo Pärt and Claude Debussy, I envisioned an imaginary encounter with these esteemed composers in Casablanca, over Moroccan tea.

This piece is not an imitation of their styles but rather a heartfelt conversation between us. It embodies the essence of typical conversations in Morocco, where we all speak at the same time, meandering from topic to topic, and experiencing numerous changes of atmospheres, tempi, textures, and fragments of thematic material.

It begins with minimalist touches, a nod to Pärt's recent works, where the piano introduces serene arpeggios, intertwining with heartfelt viola melodies. As we delve into our tea time, I incorporate some of Debussy's harmonic vocabulary. 

Throughout our harmonious dialogue, the piece mirrors the dynamic nature of conversations in Morocco. We experience moments of collective excitement, where the music swells with vibrant textures and lively tempi, as if everyone is speaking at once. Themes and motifs emerge and intertwine, mirroring the meandering nature of our discussion as we navigate from one topic to another.

As our musical journey unfolds, our collaboration celebrates cultural fusion, weaving together Pärt, Debussy, and my artistic zest. Each voice contributes to the narrative, inviting moments of wonder and contemplation through our shared inspirations.

Sung with a distinct English accent, the song's stark lyricism and relentless tempo capture a deep sense of self-reckoning and regret. The lyrics explore themes of identity, aging, and accountability, unfolding like a confessional from someone haunted by their own choices and the passage of time.

The track's driving strumming pattern mirrors the tension in the lyrics, creating a soundscape that's both urgent and reflective. The vocal delivery—equal parts vulnerable and defiant—cuts through the instrumentation, making each line hit with visceral impact. Lines like "Will the real me stand up / Time to take a bow" and "I'd like to erase the story / But I authored every page" evoke a poignant struggle with self-acceptance and the weight of unchangeable past actions.

Rooted in the post-punk ethos, Dorian is both a cathartic and thought-provoking experience, balancing raw emotion with the genre's signature edge. It’s a song that refuses to look away, offering a mirror to the listener as much as the narrator.

I sometimes miss when things were more simple

The stark contrast between the warmth of shared moments and the weight of personal struggle makes it an intimate yet anthemic piece—one that lingers long after the final chord fades.

That's What Friends Are For [ Post punk | Singer Songwriter]

On the evening of 28th February, seven major planets in our Solar System appeared in the night sky at the same time, with Mars, Venus, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus all lining up in a neat row next to the Sun. 

Nobody knows the last time that this major planetary reunion occurred. But Andreas (@APi_ZZ) thought it might be fun to imagine what the craic would be all about, and so this is what we've come up with.
