Unity Underground Live Stream #004 25th June- RACH/King Chuga

The incredible Radioactive Watermelon make their epic debut on Omni Music. For those who don't know, this is the pseudonym of Mellonius One, the downtempo wizard that has had a string of releases on the incredible Stasis Recordings. This is their Drum and Bass alter-ego, and what a character it is, expertly blending serene pads and glimmering melodies with an assault of breakbeat mastery. Deep Time starts the proceedings with downtempo drums that erupt into drumfunk and amen edits, No words keeps up the breakbeat drama with more choppy rhythms and arpeggios. The musical bliss continues throughout, all the way to the closing track 'Once a River' with its interplay of breaks and melodic joy. We can't wait to hear more Drum and Bass masterpieces from this talented artist.

Another off-the-cuff Jungle mix (with a few unreleased dubs) that will only be live for 24-48 hrs at most. These are my most fun sets when I'm trying to work out the tunes and mixes for the released sets. I do think no one gives a toss about Jungle Mixes anymore. We are spoilt with so much choice unless you are Sully or Tim Reaper making jungle mixes so noobs can hear the latest tune to DL, then I believe the art of making a memorable mix for the sake of the art is somewhat lost - if anyone disagrees please enlighten me. Anyway, this was fun making it tonight. It gets pretty loose towards the end when I stopped a tune by mistake and then my wife called from LA when I was on the last mix. I'm going to hear it again now - grabbing some beers! Cheers!
